Certified Surgical Technologist - Per Diem

CST's at Cayuga Health play a key role in the interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive, compassionate care to the community. They practice at full scope, contributing to program development and care plans in a shared governance environment to enhance patient outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Standards of Care: Maintains operative care standards according to AORN guidelines.

Preparation and Setup: Stocks rooms, cleans equipment, and prepares supplies based on surgeon and anesthesia needs.

Surgical Support: Assists with patient positioning, surgical hand scrubs, counts, and Time Out procedures.

Safety and Infection Control: Identifies and addresses safety hazards, follows universal precautions, and infection control protocols.

Accountability and Flexibility: Organizes tasks to meet patient and unit needs, adapts to changes, and stays current with education and policies.
Required Skills and Experience:

NBSTSA or NCCT certification preferred OR Graduate of an Accredited 2-Year Surgical Technology program (AAS), and eligible for certification within 12 months
Physical Requirements:

Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard).

Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment, IV solutions), with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers.

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.

Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range Disclosure:

Standard Rate of $30.00 per hour to $42.02 per hour plus per diem premium based upon experience
