Role Description This, on-site Designer role is based in Ithaca, NY and focuses on creating thoughtful, functional, and visually cohesive spaces for residential and commercial projects. The Interior Designer will develop concepts, produce design presentations, and collaborate with architects, project managers, and contractors to ensure design intent is accurately executed. Day-to-day responsibilities include space planning, selecting FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment), assisting with construction drawings and documentation. The role also involves meeting with clients to understand their needs, refining designs based on feedback, coordinating with vendors and fabricators, and supporting project oversight through site visits and punch lists. The Interior Designer will contribute to maintaining Rocco Design + Build’s high standards of craftsmanship, sustainability, and historical sensitivity across all projects.
Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency in Interior Design and FF&E selection, including materials, finishes, and furnishings appropriate for residential and commercial spaces.
Strong skills in Space Planning and Architecture coordination to create functional layouts that align with structural and building requirements.
Experience preparing and reading Construction Drawings and related documentation to support accurate implementation of design intent.
Relevant academic background such as a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related field.
Proficiency with design and documentation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Rendering, or similar), and familiarity with presentation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of building codes, permit documents, accessibility standards, and sustainable design principles; experience with environmentally responsible materials and practices is a plus.
Strong visual communication and client-facing skills, including the ability to present concepts clearly and incorporate feedback constructively.
Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to collaborate with our team and work independently.
Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
