About S5
At S5, we are on a mission to make advanced data science consumable for business users. We are a SaaS provider of AI/ML-powered solutions that transform planning and decision-making across the retail and CPG value chain, from strategy to execution.
Our platform enables some of the most sophisticated retailers to operate with precision at scale, bridging the gap between data, insight, and action. As we continue to grow, we are looking for exceptional talent to help shape the next generation of intelligent planning systems.
The Role
S5 is seeking an Analytics Engineer to sit at the intersection of data science, analytics, and business impact. This role is critical in transforming raw data into scalable models and machine-learning-ready datasets that power our platform, our predictive analytics, and client-facing insights.
You will play a key role in building and scaling our AI/ML capabilities—not just the pipelines that feed them, but the feature engineering, modeling workflows, and analytical logic that make them accurate and actionable. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and is excited by the opportunity to turn complex data into models that directly influence business outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build machine-learning-ready datasets, features, and data models that power predictive analytics and product intelligence
- Develop, train, and operationalize ML models and pipelines—covering data preparation, feature engineering, model input/output workflows, and performance monitoring
- Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to solve forecasting, segmentation, optimization, and related retail planning problems
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines (batch and streaming) to support high-volume, complex datasets
- Translate business requirements into well-structured data models, features, and analytical solutions
- Build analytics-ready datasets that enable self-service insights and drive decision-making
- Improve data and model quality through validation frameworks, testing, and monitoring
- Partner with Product and Client teams to ensure data and models align with real-world workflows and use cases
- Automate manual processes and optimize data and model delivery for performance and scalability
- Contribute to data science standards, documentation, and best practices across the organization
- Support experimentation, A/B testing, and advanced analytics use cases
- Troubleshoot data and model issues and ensure reliability across the ecosystem
What We’re Looking For
- Strong expertise in SQL (required) and Python for data transformation, analysis, and modeling
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, and optimizing ML/AI models in production environments
- Solid grounding in statistics, machine learning methods, and feature engineering
- Proven experience building and optimizing data pipelines and data models in production
- Deep understanding of relational databases (columnar and row-based)
- Experience working with large-scale, complex datasets
- Familiarity with model pipelines, real-time inference systems, or forecasting/time-series methods
- Familiarity with modern data architecture and ELT/ETL frameworks
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP / OCI)
- Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows
- Experience working with APIs and integrating across multiple data sources
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
What Sets You Apart
- Experience working with large, complex retail datasets—and an understanding of how seasonality, promotions, and product cannibalization affect machine learning models and forecasts
- Experience in retail, CPG, or supply chain analytics
- Background in consulting or client-facing environments
- Familiarity with analytics engineering tools (e.g., dbt)
- Passion for building data and ML systems that are not just functional—but intuitive and impactful
Why S5
At S5, you won’t just build pipelines—you’ll help define how data drives decisions across an entire industry. You’ll work alongside a team that blends deep retail expertise with cutting-edge technology, solving problems that are both complex and high-impact.
This is an opportunity to:
- Build foundational data and ML systems in a rapidly growing company
- Work on AI/ML-driven products with real-world application
- Shape how data is experienced by business users
- Operate in a culture that values ownership, speed, and innovation
There’s never been a more exciting time to join S5.
