We have an excellent opportunity for a Packaging Lead in Scott City, MO!
Candidates must be willing to work 6:30am - 7pm and every other weekend.
I. Position Purpose
Reporting to the Production Floor Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing leadership and training while managing the workload as the leader for the Packaging department.
II. Position Responsibilities and Duties
Performing duties as directed by others to ensure the following duties are managed accurately and timely:
Packaging Responsibilities
- Maintain an efficient and safe plant environment that meets company and departmental goals.
- Develop key indicators to measure quality, productivity, and utilization.
- Train operators and support personnel as needed.
- Create a team working environment within the area.
- Evaluate performance of operations.
- Maintain necessary records for accounting functions and customer audits.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for equipment and processes.
- Provide leadership for all department personnel.
- Utilize the IMS and SPC where applicable.
- Responsible for quality of work within area.
- Maintain work environment in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Actively engage in continuous improvement programs such as SOP’s.
- Ensure proper utilization of company SOP’s.
Quality, Safety and Sanitation
- Follow all Personnel Safety policies/procedures, including the use of proper PPE, as well as ensure the safe use of required tools and equipment
- Follow all Food Safety, Quality Assurance, GMP's, Sanitation and general plant policies/procedures
- Inspect products for overall appearance according to customer and QA/Food Safety requirements and communicate with supervisor when non-conforming products are present
- Communicate all safety or environmental issues to supervisors/managers
- At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform general housekeeping duties
- Complete necessary paperwork for documenting process parameters and recordkeeping requirements
General Leadership
- Ensure all regulatory compliance.
- Follow established Human Resources procedures.
- Ensure proper training and adherence to area SOP’s.
- Assist with evaluating the performance of subordinates.
- Create a team working environment.
- Develop key indicators to measure quality and productivity.
Open Communications to be a team player and do other tasks as necessary.
III. Essential Skills
This position actively engages in daily operations and is engaged in supporting policies and procedures in accordance with the company Vision, Values, and Strategic Objectives. In addition, good oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, strong leadership skills, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively work with and direct a team environment are critical.
Education Level: High School Diploma or GED
Related Experience: Prior supervisory, team lead or foreman experience
Ability to motivate through hands-on leadership
Verbal, written and math proficiency
Packaging or process experience preferred
IV. Physical and Mental Requirements
This position requires physical and mental alertness, attentiveness and stamina for the length of an entire 8–12 hour work shift each day. Occasional to frequent lifting of 50-100 pounds, frequent changing from a seated to standing position and occasional to frequent stair climbing are all physical demands of this position. This working environment for this position will include occasional to frequent work in both extreme cold and hot weather conditions.
