Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Warehouse Operations & Performance Manager is responsible for driving operational excellence, process improvement, technology implementation, and employee performance within a high-volume warehouse and distribution environment.

This position requires a hands-on, solutions-oriented leader with strong warehouse operations experience and the ability to assess current processes, identify inefficiencies, and successfully implement improved systems and procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), warehouse technology, system conversions, inventory processes, and the implementation of scanning and other technology-based solutions.

This individual must be comfortable leading change, holding employees accountable, and working effectively with a diverse workforce at all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will combine strong warehouse acumen with professionalism, emotional intelligence, technical aptitude, and effective people-management skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Evaluate current warehouse operations and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, accuracy, safety, and accountability.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve warehouse processes, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Lead warehouse process improvement initiatives from planning through implementation.
Work extensively with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to improve inventory control, order fulfillment, receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and overall warehouse visibility.
Participate in and help lead WMS implementations, upgrades, system conversions, and operational technology projects.
Coordinate the implementation and deployment of RF scanners, scan guns, mobile devices, printers, and other warehouse technology.
Assist with system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, employee training, and adoption of new warehouse technologies.
Partner with IT, vendors, leadership, and warehouse personnel during technology implementations and system conversions.
Establish measurable performance standards and use operational data and KPIs to evaluate warehouse performance.
Monitor productivity, inventory accuracy, order accuracy, shipping performance, and other key operational metrics.
Develop solutions to recurring operational problems rather than relying on temporary fixes.
Manage, coach, train, and develop warehouse supervisors and employees.
Establish clear expectations and consistently hold team members accountable for performance, attendance, conduct, safety, and productivity.
Lead employees professionally and respectfully while maintaining appropriate management boundaries and standards.
Effectively manage and communicate with employees from different backgrounds, cultures, experience levels, and communication styles.
Address employee concerns and operational conflicts professionally and partner with Human Resources when appropriate.
Promote a workplace culture centered on accountability, teamwork, professionalism, continuous improvement, and respect.
Maintain a visible presence on the warehouse floor and actively engage with employees and supervisors to understand operational challenges.
Ensure warehouse leadership is proactively managing workflow, staffing, productivity, and employee performance.
Partner with senior leadership and other departments to ensure warehouse operations support the overall needs and goals of the organization.
Support change-management efforts and effectively communicate the purpose, expectations, and benefits of new processes and systems.
Perform other operational leadership responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of progressive warehouse, distribution, or supply chain operations experience.
Previous warehouse leadership or management experience required.
Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, inventory management, picking, packing, shipping, and distribution.
Demonstrated experience implementing or improving warehouse processes and procedures.
Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) required.
Experience with WMS implementation, system conversions, integrations, or major system upgrades strongly preferred.
Experience implementing or managing RF scanners, barcode scanning systems, or similar warehouse technology strongly preferred.
Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn and implement new systems.
Proven ability to lead operational change and gain employee buy-in.
Strong people-management, coaching, conflict-resolution, and accountability skills.
Ability to effectively manage a diverse workforce and adapt leadership and communication approaches when appropriate.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.
Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational involvement.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
Experience in automotive parts distribution, aftermarket parts, wholesale distribution, or a similar high-SKU warehouse environment.
Experience managing multi-location or complex distribution operations.
Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or project management experience.
Experience developing warehouse KPIs, dashboards, and performance-management systems.

Leadership Profile

The ideal candidate is not someone who simply maintains the current operation. We are seeking a leader who can walk into an existing warehouse environment, understand how the operation currently functions, identify what is and is not working, and develop practical solutions that improve performance.

This individual should be comfortable leading from the warehouse floor while also being capable of communicating professionally with executives, vendors, IT professionals, managers, supervisors, and employees. The successful candidate will bring structure, accountability, technology, and continuous improvement to the operation while developing a team capable of sustaining those improvements

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
