Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring smooth and efficient patient care in a fast-paced dental environment. Your expertise will support various dental procedures, maintain strict infection control standards, and enhance the overall patient experience. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and other specialties while working alongside a passionate team dedicated to oral health excellence.

Responsibilities

Assist the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontic treatments, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and organized according to aseptic techniques
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans using advanced imaging technology
Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Open Dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures
Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and supporting the dentist with medical imaging procedures
Maintain infection control standards by adhering to OSHA guidelines and proper sterilization protocols
Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care instructions using clear dental terminology
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and updating medical documentation
Assist in medical documentation and coding for billing purposes using medical terminology and coding systems like medical records management tools
Ensure all clinical areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards at all times

Requirements

Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent certification
Proven experience in general dentistry; experience in pediatric dentistry or specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics is preferred
Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft or Open Dental
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and medical terminology
Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other imaging devices confidently
Experience with chairside assisting in a fast-paced clinical setting; familiarity with four-handed dentistry techniques highly desirable
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security
Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages including pediatrics about their oral health needs
Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical imaging procedures accurately
Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, documentation, and appointment scheduling
