We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Welder / Fabricator with a focus on tack and finish welding thin steel, stainless steel, aluminum sheet and piping to join our team. The Welder / Fabricator is responsible for the most important step in our production process and requires competent and accurate assembly of multiple parts. Due to fit requirements the parts must be assembled properly and within very tight tolerances, there is little margin for error. Tack welds must be placed in a certain order to maintain structural integrity as the part continues in the process for final welds. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in MIG and TIG welding, a meticulous eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards of craftsmanship that define our products. Our north-west Jackson workshop and office, conveniently situated close to the I-94/Hwy 127 interchange, is equipped with state-of-the-art fabrication technology. In this professional yet inviting work environment, we are currently seeking skilled craftsmen to join our team. Working on our team as a welding and fabrication specialist may include the layout, fit/tack and fabrication of products having multiple details in a welded sequence using welding fixtures and jigs where applicable. Materials include mild steel: tube and sheet, stainless steel: tube and sheet and aluminum: tube and sheet.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English at a level of understanding that enables the following and transmission of oral and written instructions
- Maintain a high attention to safety, quality, and productivity in the welding/fabrication area
- Perform minor maintenance on equipment
- Assume responsibility and care of assigned tools and equipment
- Fit up tack, MIG and TIG welding, sawing, cutting, and grinding on products such as tubing, stainless steel and aluminum
- Safely operate shop equipment such as drill presses, saws, and grinders
- Process material by following instructions on work orders and shop drawings and verify material and work for accuracy
- Prepare and process all paperwork necessary to complete orders
- Maintain schedule and assure on time shipment of orders based on customer expectations
- Order and maintain necessary levels of shop and welding supplies
- Maintain equipment by following required preventative maintenance schedules and documenting tasks
- Observe safety procedures, assure self and others safety and report any safety issues
- Properly stack processed material and pack as required in preparation for shipping
- Attendance is an essential responsibility
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- MIG welding experience. Tack welds must maintain structural integrity and tolerance on thin materials until final welding. TIG welding experience highly preferred.
- Basic computer skills
- Have strong fabrication skills and be mechanically inclined
- Must be capable of machine setup
- Have knowledge in the use of basic shop equipment including saws, grinders, drill press, plasma cutter, etc.
- Capable of following written instructions and interpret shop drawings
- Capable of following required safety procedures including OSHA standards such as lock-out/tag-out and incident reporting
- Ability to work independently in a production oriented environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to prioritize, organize and multi task
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn
- Metal finishing (grinding/de-burr/polish) experience is a plus
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills, and work quickly, with high accuracy.
- Ability to think for yourself and work to improve the quality of product through craftsmanship and innovative thinking
- Have a professional demeanor and the ability to work with others.
- Have a clean driving record, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation

Educational/Certification Requirement:
- High School diploma or equivalent experience
- Two year vocational MIG/TIG welding program or equivalent experience (Required)
- Successful passing score on MIG/TIG welding skills test prior to hire (Required)
- Fabrication: 2+ years (Preferred)
