JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
BBG is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior OSP Engineer to lead the planning, design, and execution of outside plant (OSP) infrastructure for fiber optic and telecommunications networks. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in OSP engineering, including aerial, underground, and buried plant systems, and will play a key role in ensuring high-quality and cost-effective network deployments. The Senior OSP Designer will perform various duties throughout the entire project lifecycle with regards to outside plant planning, engineering, route mapping, site surveys, fiber splice design, and record keeping. The ideal candidate will be able to be productive in a flexible work environment to include on-site, office, and remote work environments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Lead and oversee the design and implementation of OSP projects, including fiber optic networks, conduit, bore pits, handholes, and pole lines.
2. Prepare engineering plans, construction drawings, and specifications.
3. Conduct field surveys, site walks, desktop surveys, and audits to evaluate existing infrastructure and determine optimal routing.
4. Collaborate with permitting authorities, utility companies, and internal stakeholders to secure necessary approvals and coordinate construction efforts.
5. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, industry standards (e.g., RUS, NEC), and company policies.
6. Manage and mentor junior OSP engineers and support staff, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
7. Perform detailed engineering analysis using tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, IQGEO, and other fiber design software.
8. Review contractor work, engineering plans, and construction redlines for quality assurance and adherence to design specifications.
9. Maintain project schedules, monitor budgets, and report on progress and issues to management.
10. Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in OSP network design and deployment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s/Master degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 10 years of OSP engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead role.
- Experience working with rural broadband initiatives, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), or 5G backhaul projects.
- Knowledge of construction methodologies including directional boring, trenching, and aerial installation.
- Familiarity with local and national telecommunications codes and standards.
- Ability to take initiative & work independently with little to no direction

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
