Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced International Defense Logistics Coordinator to manage the planning, coordination, and execution of Class II HAZMAT defense-related equipment shipments supporting operations throughout Europe. This position serves as the primary logistics liaison between U.S. operations, international partners, freight providers, manufacturers, and government agencies to ensure the timely, compliant, and secure movement of defense equipment. You must be willing, able and have the proper clearance to travel to Europe every 4-6 weeks.
THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL LOGISTICS ROLE. This is a specialized role handling, procuring, and coordinating munitionary and hazardous materials.
The successful candidate is a highly organized logistics professional who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. You should be comfortable coordinating complex international shipments, working with multiple stakeholders across Europe and the United States, and ensuring every shipment meets strict regulatory and contractual requirements.
This position is based in the United States and supports logistics operations across Europe through close collaboration with international partners and customers.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate domestic and international transportation of defense equipment, components, and hazardous materials.
- Manage end-to-end logistics activities supporting customers and partners throughout Europe.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, manufacturers, warehouses, and government agencies.
- Ensure shipments comply with applicable U.S. and international transportation and export regulations.
- Prepare shipping documentation, customs paperwork, commercial invoices, packing lists, hazardous material declarations, and export documentation.
- Track shipments from origin through final delivery while proactively resolving transportation issues.
- Coordinate import/export activities while maintaining compliance with ITAR, EAR, and other applicable regulations.
- Monitor inventory availability and coordinate shipments to meet contractual delivery schedules.
- Support Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Direct Commercial Sales (DCS), or other international defense programs, when applicable.
- Maintain detailed shipment records and logistics documentation.
- Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and continuous process improvements.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, international customers, and logistics partners across multiple time zones.
Required Qualifications
- Miniminum 5-7 years of experience in international defense logistics, military logistics, hazardous material logistics, and/or munitionary logistics/coordination REQUIRED.
- Ability to travel to Europe every 4-6 weeks
- Experience coordinating international shipments involving hazardous materials or controlled defense articles.
- Working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, DOT, IATA, and international shipping regulations.
- Experience with customs documentation, freight forwarding, and international transportation.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP or inventory management systems.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting defense contractors, military programs, or government agencies.
- DOT Hazardous Materials Certification and/or IATA Dangerous Goods Certification.
- Experience with NATO, European defense logistics, or Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs.
- Knowledge of military shipping requirements and controlled inventory management.
- Active or previously held U.S. security clearance.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
