LLS Steel Erectors

Overview

LLS Steel Erectors is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Finance Manager to oversee financial operations and support the successful execution of our steel erection and construction projects. This position will play a key role in managing project finances, improving cash flow, strengthening financial controls, and providing leadership with accurate information for strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial construction, strong construction accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, estimators, subcontractors, vendors, and company leadership. This is an opportunity to help LLS Steel Erectors continue growing while maintaining sound financial practices and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial models to monitor costs, revenue, profitability, and cash flow.
Oversee accounting activities related to construction and steel erection projects, including:
Accounts payable and accounts receivable
General ledger activity and reconciliations
Job costing and cost-code management
Accruals and financial adjustments
Customer billing and collections
Vendor payments and subcontractor accounts
Monitor project performance and compare actual costs and revenue against budgets and forecasts.
Partner with project managers and estimators to identify cost variances, change orders, potential overruns, and profitability concerns.
Prepare monthly financial statements, project reports, cash-flow projections, and management summaries.
Manage billing processes, including progress billing, retainage, change orders, and contract-related documentation.
Support the review of contracts, purchase orders, subcontracts, insurance requirements, and payment terms.
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies.
Analyze financial risks and recommend strategies to protect project margins and improve profitability.
Manage cash-flow planning and support treasury activities to maintain the company’s financial stability.
Provide leadership with timely financial analysis and recommendations regarding pricing, labor costs, equipment expenses, investments, and business growth.
Assist with annual budgeting, financial planning, audits, tax preparation, and banking relationships.
Develop and improve accounting procedures, reporting systems, and financial processes as the company grows.
Supervise, train, and support finance or accounting personnel as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure the accuracy and integrity of company financial information.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred.
At least one year of experience in commercial construction preferred.
Experience in construction accounting, project finance, job costing, financial management, or a related field is a plus.
Experience with commercial construction projects, construction contracts, progress billing, retainage, change orders, subcontractor payments, and project-based accounting preferred.
Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliation, accrual accounting, and financial reporting.
Experience monitoring project budgets, cash flow, cost controls, and profitability.
Proficiency with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software; experience with construction management or project accounting systems is a plus.
Advanced Excel skills, including financial analysis, formulas, spreadsheets, reporting, and data organization.
Strong understanding of GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local financial and tax requirements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to interpret financial data and clearly communicate findings to owners, executives, project managers, and other team members.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound financial judgment.
Experience leading or supervising accounting staff is preferred.
CPA, CMA, or other professional certification is a plus but not required.
Experience in steel erection, structural steel, commercial construction, or specialty contracting is highly desirable.
