Full Job Description

We are seeking a manager for our admissions services that oversees the patient admission experience and patient admissions and registration processes for the Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital- University, Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital- Bartram, and our two skilled nursing rehabilitation facilities, all located in Jacksonville, Florida. To provide direct supervision of the Brooks Rehabilitation hospital admission and registration support staff and matrix supervision for the admission coordinators located within the skilled nursing facilities.

Responsibilities:

Manages all aspects of the admissions and registration process, which includes the initial patient intake process; insurance verification; prior approval; bed availability/assignment processes and registration functions.
Achieves admission operational objectives for all locations by setting departmental goals and action plans; identifying key information and measures for performance/outcome tracking; implementing process, productivity, quality and customer service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing reports and audits; determining system improvements; and implementing change.
Ensures optimum bed occupancy at all locations by designing, establishing and maintaining processes and procedures for effective bed control management.
Manages admissions and registration staff:
- Recruiting; selecting; orienting; training; assigning; scheduling; coaching; counseling; and disciplining employees.
- Communicating job expectations; monitoring; appraising/reviewing job performance; and enforcing policies and procedures.
Prepares and Manages Admission Departmental budget(s); analyzes variances; and implements corrective actions in order to meet financial objectives.
Contributes to a successful and safe patient care transition by providing admissions processes and standards that ensure effective interface and communication with hospital and/or SNF/U patient care staff.
Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with relevant policies and procedures within all inpatient hospital and skilled nursing facilities/locations
Serves as a representative of the health system to outside hospitals and other agencies.
Maintain up to date policies and procedures; training manuals; and all other materials essential to admissions and registration operations.
Collaborate with all relevant internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure operational success.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School diploma
Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
2-3 years’ experience within a hospital or SNF environment.
Demonstrated skill in developing relationships and customer service
Management.
Demonstrated communication skills both verbal and written.
Demonstrated ability to manage cultural and organizational change.
Demonstrated skill in the use of software programs.

Desired:

Degree in Hospital Administration or other business related field.
2+ years’ experience in prior insurance authorization department or utilization management department
Managing two or more people either directly or in a matrix environment.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Full-time

Compensation: Experience, education and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
