Salary: $52,000 annual base salary plus commission
Target Total Compensation: $85,000–$100,000+ annually, with additional earning potential based on sales performance

The Wedding & Events Sales Manager will oversee the full event experience—from generating and securing new business to planning, coordinating, and supporting the successful execution of each event. This position serves as the primary connection between the client and the Club, working closely with Club leadership and operational teams to ensure every event is thoughtfully planned, professionally executed, and reflective of Deerwood’s standards of excellence.

Job purpose
The Wedding & Events Sales Manager is responsible for generating, selling, planning, coordinating, and executing weddings, private events, social celebrations, corporate functions, golf events, and other special events at Deerwood Country Club. This position manages the full event experience from the initial inquiry and Club tour through event planning, execution, and post-event follow-up.
The Wedding & Events Sales Manager develops new business, cultivates relationships with members, guests, prospective clients, and referral partners, and works closely with Club leadership and operational departments to ensure events are thoughtfully planned and executed to the highest standards. This position serves as the primary connection between the client's expectations and the Club's operational team and is responsible for delivering exceptional member and guest experiences while achieving established sales and revenue goals.
Duties and responsibilities

Develop and actively sell weddings, rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers, anniversary celebrations, birthday parties, corporate meetings, holiday parties, golf events, memorial gatherings, and other private events.

Generate new business through prospecting, networking, community relationships, referrals, wedding professionals, local businesses, organizations, and strategic partnerships.

Respond promptly and professionally to event inquiries and consistently follow leads through the entire sales process.

Conduct engaging Club tours and effectively communicate the value and benefits of hosting events

Prepare proposals, contracts, menus, event packages, and customized presentations based on client needs and Club offerings.

Build and maintain strong relationships with members, clients, prospective clients, and event professionals to generate repeat business and referrals.

Cultivate relationships with wedding planners, photographers, florists, entertainment professionals, businesses, organizations, and other referral partners.

Maintain an active sales pipeline and work toward established monthly and annual event sales and revenue goals.

Identify opportunities to increase event revenue through menu enhancements, beverage packages, upgraded experiences, additional event spaces, and other event offerings.

Lead detailed planning meetings with clients to understand their vision, priorities, timeline, budget, and expectations.

Guide clients through menu selection, beverage service, room layouts, decor, entertainment, audiovisual requirements, rentals, timelines, and other event details.

Coordinate menu tastings and collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team regarding menus, special requests, and dietary needs.

Develop accurate and detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and ensure all event specifications are communicated to the appropriate Club departments in a timely manner.

Create and maintain event timelines, floor plans, seating arrangements, vendor requirements, setup instructions, and other operational details.

Track deposits, contracts, guarantees, final counts, event changes, and required client documentation.

Coordinate outside vendors including florists, entertainment, photographers, planners, rental companies, transportation providers, and audiovisual partners.

Conduct pre-event meetings with culinary, banquet, bar, facilities, security, golf, and other participating departments to ensure proper communication and execution.

Review BEOs, timelines, room diagrams, special requests, and service expectations with the operational team prior to events.

Inspect event spaces prior to guest arrival to ensure rooms are properly set, clean, organized, and presentation-ready.

Coordinate vendor arrivals, setup, deliveries, entertainment, decor, and other event-day logistics.

Serve as the primary client contact for major events and be visible and engaged during event setup and execution as appropriate.

Monitor the overall guest experience, event timing, food and beverage presentation, room transitions, and execution of event details.

Troubleshoot event-day challenges calmly and professionally and communicate adjustments to the appropriate Club departments.

Anticipate potential challenges and proactively address issues to ensure successful event execution.

Ensure special requests, dietary needs, accessibility considerations, and member or guest preferences are properly communicated and addressed.

Conduct post-event follow-up with clients to obtain feedback, encourage referrals, and identify opportunities for future business.

Maintain organized event files and accurate records of client communications, contracts, BEOs, deposits, and event details.

Communicate regularly with Club leadership and operational departments regarding upcoming events, sales activity, client expectations, and potential operational concerns.

Participate in BEO meetings, event planning meetings, department head meetings, and other leadership meetings as required.

Collaborate with Food & Beverage, culinary, golf, membership, facilities, and other Club departments to ensure successful event execution and an exceptional member and guest experience.

Maintain knowledge of Club facilities, event spaces, menus, services, policies, and procedures to effectively sell and coordinate events.

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with the standards of Deerwood Country Club and Hampton Golf.

Qualifications

Previous experience in weddings, catering, event, hospitality, hotel, restaurant, private club, or venue sales and coordination.

Demonstrated ability to generate new business, develop relationships, and successfully close sales.

Strong event planning and execution experience with exceptional attention to detail.

Strong knowledge of food, beverage, banquet, and hospitality operations.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple events, deadlines, vendors, and clients simultaneously.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and solution-oriented in a fast-paced event environment.

Creative approach to event planning with strong attention to presentation and detail.

Ability to work collaboratively with culinary, banquet, food and beverage, golf, membership, facilities, and Club leadership teams.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the Club's event schedule.

Private club experience preferred but not required.
Working conditions
Work is primarily indoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitor and develop subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 40 lbs., up to 30 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golfs Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
