In this pivotal role, you'll be at the forefront of expanding CAP's therapeutic services, implementing evidence-based music therapy interventions and building crucial partnerships within our school communities. The position has an anticipated start date of as early as August 1, 2026, and no later than September 1, 2026.

Who Should Apply
- Board-Certified Music Therapist: Board certification in music therapy (MT-BC) and bachelor's degree in music therapy from an AMTA-approved program or related field.
- Board-Eligible Music Therapist: Candidates who have completed degree requirements but are awaiting certification examination may be considered for hire as a Music Therapist, with the expectation of obtaining MT-BC certification within eight (8) months of their start date.
- Strong musicianship skills on piano, guitar, voice or primary instrument required.
- Board-certified (MT-BC) applicants with a master’s degree are preferred.
What You Will Bring
- Therapeutic Experience: Proven ability to assess, plan and implement group music therapy interventions for diverse student populations, including those with exceptionalities and developmental needs. School-based or pediatric experience is highly valued.
- Group Leadership: Excellence in facilitating group music therapy sessions while maintaining therapeutic value and managing group dynamics effectively.
- Collaborative Partnership: Strong track record working with multidisciplinary teams and building relationships with teachers, administrators and support staff to integrate seamlessly into school communities.
- Multi-Site Coordination: Experience navigating multiple locations, including scheduling, documentation and stakeholder communication while maintaining contractual hours and program quality.
- Assessment & Documentation: Skilled in conducting music therapy assessments, establishing measurable goals and creating detailed progress reports that communicate student impact effectively.
- Adaptability & Inclusion: Resilient problem-solver who creates inclusive therapeutic environments and adapts interventions to meet diverse student needs across varying settings.
- Practical Requirements: Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, Level 2 background clearance, and flexibility for M-F split schedule including daytime and afterschool hours.
A Day in the Life
- Flexible Schedule: Lead music therapy groups across daytime school programs and afterschool settings, managing energy and approach throughout varied daily schedules.
- Balanced Workload: Provide up to 10 hours of direct therapeutic services weekly with dedicated time for planning, documentation and school staff collaboration.
- Team Collaboration: Partner with teachers, CAP colleagues and the CAPabilities music therapists and creative art counselor team members to seamlessly integrate music therapy into students' educational experiences.
- Clinical Documentation: Complete session notes, track therapeutic progress and design future interventions based on individual student needs and responses.
Perks & Benefits
- Competitive Compensation: Starting hourly payrate for music therapists awaiting certification ranges from $40.00-$45.00 per hour. Once certified, starting salary ranges from $46.00-$48.00 per hour, adjustable based on your experience.
