Director of Nursing (RN) - Emergency Services (ER) - Florence, AL

A leading acute care hospital is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing for Emergency Services to lead one of the region's busiest emergency departments. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all operational, clinical, financial, and strategic aspects of Emergency Services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while driving excellence in outcomes, safety, and staff engagement.

The Emergency Department includes a 36-bed unit serving approximately 46,000 patients annually, supported by a team of 70 nurses and clinical support staff. The department also features a specialized 8-bed senior-focused emergency unit, providing dedicated care for older adults in a patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic and operational leadership for Emergency Services.
Drive improvements in patient outcomes, quality metrics, patient satisfaction, and cost efficiency.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, hospital leadership, and executive teams.
Lead recruitment, retention, engagement, and professional development initiatives for clinical staff.
Manage departmental budgeting, resource allocation, and performance improvement programs.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Current Alabama RN License (or eligibility for licensure).
Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Emergency Services.
Strong background in acute care operations, budgeting, financial management, and quality improvement.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build collaborative relationships.
BLS and ACLS certifications required (or obtainable within a designated timeframe).
