Vincennes University seeks an innovative, experienced, and student-focused leader to serve as the Assistant Vice President and Dean of the Jasper Campus. This individual will provide strategic vision and operational leadership, ensuring academic success and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and forward-thinking administrator with a strong background in higher education leadership, faculty development, workforce partnerships, and campus operations.
The Assistant Vice President and Dean services as the chief administrative and academic leader for the Jasper Campus. The position provides day-to-day leadership for campus operations, academic quality, student success, and community partnerships, and regional engagement, while working closely with University leadership to ensure alignment with system-wide academic, operational, strategic priorities.
As a key representative of Vincennes University in the region, the Dean will be responsible for academic oversight, faculty and staff leadership, student recruitment and retention strategies, accreditation, infrastructure management, and community engagement. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Academic Leadership and Campus Management

Inspire and lead faculty and staff, fostering a collaborative, student-centered culture that enhances academic achievement and workforce readiness.

Recruit, hire, and mentor faculty and staff, ensuring a high level of instructional quality and a supportive learning environment.

Guide faculty development and performance evaluation processes, including recommendations for promotion, tenure, and merit-based recognition.

Collaborate with department chairs and faculty to refine curricula, oversee accreditation compliance, and implement course assessment strategies that drive continuous improvement.

Work collaboratively with the Assistant Provost for Curriculum and Instruction and Academic Deans to uphold the consistency, rigor, and integrity of academic programs across campuses and modalities.
Student Recruitment, Retention & Success

Provide leadership for Jasper Campus enrollment, retention, advising, and student support strategies in partnership with University-wide admissions, enrollment management, student affairs, academic affairs, and faculty leadership.

Partner with Student Affairs at the Vincennes Campus to align policies, services, and programs that enhance the student experience and promote success.
Operational & Strategic Leadership

Lead the development and execution of VUJ strategic initiatives, aligning campus goals with Vincennes University’s mission and long-term priorities.

Oversee campus budgeting and financial planning, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and compliance with university policies.

Oversee academic quality, assessment, and accreditation-related activities for Jasper Campus programs in collaboration with faculty, department chairs, academic deans, and the Provost’s Office.

Coordinate campus facilities planning and space utilization to ensure that classrooms, labs, offices, and common spaces support academic quality, workforce training, student engagement, and community use.

Lead program and classroom assessment efforts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and data-informed decision-making at both campus and university levels.
Community Engagement & Institutional Advancement

Cultivate strong relationships with local industries, businesses, and community organizations, positioning VUJ as a regional leader in workforce development and economic growth.

Strengthen VUJ’s role as a regional education and workforce partner by aligning academic programs, credentials, and training opportunities with the needs of employers, school partners, community organizations, and regional economic development priorities.

Partner with the VUJ Foundation, University Foundation, and advancement staff, and community leaders to identify philanthropic, grant, and partnership opportunities that support campus priorities, student success, and regional workforce needs.

Support VUJ’s position as a visible and engaged community leader, advocating for faculty, students, and academic programs while participating in local initiatives and professional development opportunities.
Institutional Collaboration & Advocacy
Represent VUJ at the university level, collaborating with the President, Provost, Vice Presidents, and Deans to ensure campus alignment with system-wide initiatives. Advocate for faculty, staff, and academic programs, ensuring that VUJ’s unique needs and contributions are recognized within the broader Vincennes University system.
The AVP and Dean of VUJ reports directly to the President, with a dotted line to the Provost of Vincennes University, and works in close partnership with Vice Presidents, Vincennes Campus Deans, and the Dean of Early College to maintain academic consistency, operational excellence, and a shared commitment to student success.
A master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education or a closely related educational, workforce, or public-sector setting,
Experience with budgeting, facilities, and operational planning.
Evidence of successfully leading a team of multiple people.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated success in building employer, school, civic, and community partnerships.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate or terminal degree preferred.
Progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education.
Experience with academic assessment, accreditation, or program review.
Experience supporting enrollment growth, retention, and student success.
Familiarity with community college missions, including workforce training and education, transfer education, and dual enrollment.
