This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, the intermediate salary $56,712.48, and senior salary of $61,249.44.

Job Location: 105 West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, MO

The financial services specialist performs routine entry-level financial accounting, reporting, and support services activities. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.

MoDOT will bring candidates onto the team as entry-level, intermediate or senior level, based on your skills and experience. This opening is for one of our CAREER-LADDER positions which offers the opportunity for career advancement without having to participate in the competitive selection interview process. As you continue to learn, acquire new skills, and gain experience, you can be promoted to a higher-level position.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

What you'll do:

Performs various accounting functions, including reconciliations; monitoring delinquent accounts; depositing daily receipts; processing invoices and initiating vendor payments; assisting with the calculation of overhead rates; and monitoring records for consumable inventories and capital/fixed assets.
Coordinates with federal agencies (Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Rail Administration, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) to administer federal funds in accordance with federal requirements.
Coordinates and prepares documents for the Partnership programs, including Cost Share, the Missouri Transportation Finance Corporation (MTFC) loan program, and the Statewide Transportation Assistance Revolving (STAR) loan program, for presentation to the applicable committees, boards, and the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.
Creates documents for federally funded projects; monitors categories of cost for federal reimbursement; prepares Federal Highway Administration billing and final vouchers; submits documentation and maintains records for letters of credit.
Reviews documents, forms, and reports to determine if payroll coding, transactions, and adjustments are correct; verifies accuracy of timesheet coding; makes payroll corrections; prepares reimbursements; may process forms necessary to enroll, maintain, and update employee benefits.

Qualifications - All you need for success Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree: Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Planning, Public Administration, or related field,
OR
Four years of experience in positions related to multimodal transportation, federal or state grant program management, public or transportation administration, transportation planning, accounting, or financial analysis experience.

Special Working Conditions:

Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
