As an Apprentice Electrician / Helper you will support licensed electricians in the field while learning the trade, building strong work habits, and helping our crews complete work safely, efficiently, and professionally.
As our apprentice/helper, you will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day electrical tasks, maintaining clean and safe jobsites, taking care of tools and materials, and demonstrating the attitude and work ethic needed to grow into a licensed electrician. You will work closely with journeymen, foremen, and service technicians to support successful jobs from start to finish.

Duties
The Apprentice Electrician / Helper will assist licensed electricians with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems. This role is responsible for supporting field productivity, safety, and workmanship by handling basic tasks, managing tools and materials, and developing skills that align with Pat’s Electrical standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Support: Assist electricians with tasks such as material handling, pulling wire, mounting boxes and devices, drilling, fastening supports, labeling, and cleanup under supervision.
- Jobsite Setup & Cleanup: Help set up ladders, tools, and work areas at the start of each job and ensure all areas are cleaned, swept, and picked up at the end of the day.
- Tools & Materials Management: Load and unload trucks, stage materials, maintain organized tool storage, and report missing or damaged tools promptly.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout practices, and instructions related to working around energized equipment and at heights.
- Learning & Skill Development: Actively learn trade skills, codes, and best practices by observing, asking questions, and applying feedback from supervisors and journeymen.
- Documentation Support: Accurately track time on jobs, record basic material usage when asked, and support photo documentation or simple forms as directed.
- Customer Respect: Maintain a clean, professional appearance, be courteous on customer property, and support clear communication from the lead tech to the customer.
- Vehicle & Equipment Care: Help keep company vehicles clean, stocked with commonly used materials, and ready for the next day’s work.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience: Prior construction, warehouse, mechanical, or trade experience helpful but not required; interest in the electrical trade is essential.
- Licensing: Ability to meet any state or local registration requirements for electrical helpers/apprentices (if applicable).
- Driving & Records: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; reliable transportation to designated shop or job meet-up point.
- Physical Ability: Able to lift 50 lbs regularly; work on ladders, in attics, crawlspaces, and outdoors in varying weather; stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
- Work Ethic: Strong attendance, punctuality, willingness to work overtime when needed, and ability to follow directions consistently.
- Attitude & Communication: Positive attitude, respectful communication with supervisors, coworkers, and customers, and willingness to receive coaching and feedback.
Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
