This positions ensures that each customer gets a friendly, welcoming experience with consistent grooming services every time. This position is responsible for the safety and comfort of all animals that you come in contact with.
The person in this position must be able to perform the following duties:
- Be familiar with all breed specific haircuts and be able to routinely produce them consistently.
- Be able to alter haircuts to the clients specifications.
- Be familiar with safe and humane ways to de-matt a pet and exercise proper judgement.
- Be familiar with skin, ear and dental conditions and be able to communicate any issues to clients.
- Be familiar with hair, skin, flea and dental products and be able to communicate, educate and sell them to clients.
- Be familiar with animal behavior and be able to safely restrain pets in a comfortable and safe manner to prevent injury to pets and yourself.
- Be able to safely clip and Dremel nails, clean ears and express anal glands.
- Interact with coworkers in a collaborative, respectful and professional manner. Be able to communicate and coordinate with others in order to keep the salon running smoothly.
- Be able to lift large breed animals up to 100 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
- Keep grooming areas and kennels clean, sanitized and free of smells and hazards throughout the day.
- Be able to write and type up services records and take pre and post grooming photos and enter them into the computer system.
- Be able to accurately schedule grooming time blocks.
- Be able to accurately calculate grooming fees and product sales and enter them into the computer system, handle cash and change till and print out a receipt.
- Be able to answer incoming phone calls and communicate with potential and existing clients.
- Help ensure that the grooming facility and equipment is cleaned and disinfected at the end of each day.
- Occasionally be able to treat the facility for fleas using pesticides and protective equipment.
