Full Job Description

Job Summary
As part of The City of Winooski’s state-licensed Thrive After School and Summer Program, and under the general direction of the Thrive Program Director, the Thrive Program Assistant Director will lead the design and delivery of age-appropriate, interest-driven enrichment activities and will serve as the on-site program lead when the Program Director is off-site. The Assistant Director will also work collaboratively with other staff to provide school-age children (grades K – 5) in Winooski with a safe, enriching out-of-school experience throughout the year, including maintaining a safe environment that complies with State licensing regulations, both on-site at the Winooski School District and throughout the community.

Duties

Participants will be managed using strategies that are consistent with JFK Elementary School practices, and that maintain a positive, enriching, and fun environment for all youth participants. This will include assuring adherence to all applicable State licensing regulations.
A curriculum of enriching activities that develops both academic and social skills will be developed, planned, and able to be implemented by the staff team. This will include assuring adherence to all applicable State licensing regulations.
Staff meetings and check-ins with Supervisor will be productive, constructive, and positive means by which to recommend program improvements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure professional development. The Thrive Assistant Director will be actively engaged in developing and executing an annual "Individual Personal Development Plan (IPDP)" as required by State licensing regulations.
Accurate, detailed records, including daily attendance and sign-in/sign-out logs, will be maintained accurately to help the program to track a variety of outcomes. This will include assuring adherence to all applicable State licensing regulations.
Execute additional tasks or special projects assigned by the supervisor, including periodic support at non-Thrive programs as available.
Minor Administrative tasks such as time sheets are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Participate in the continuous improvement of the City of Winooski by identifying concerns and offering solutions
Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers
Support the City’s commitment to equity and cultural competency
Encourage and participate in professional development and training activities
Demonstrate commitment to the City Team buy learning about other departments and working collaboratively in cross functional areas
Work in alignment with the City's Strategic Vision Plan, and maintain an active role in the team effort required to achieve those goals.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Possess a BA, BS or Associate’s degree, or comparable work experience, and have one of the following:
at least ten months’ direct work experience with school age children or
Vermont On‐The‐Job Training certificate or
Vermont Afterschool Professional Credential or
Vermont Program Director Credential or
Vermont Teacher Licensure
Master’s Degree in a youth‐related field
Ability to work with children in a calm and effective manner and to execute the policies of a childcare program.

Pay: $24.35 - $26.36 per hour
