Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Dining Services Manager to lead food service operations in a healthcare setting. This role is responsible for ensuring residents receive safe, nutritious, and enjoyable meals while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Nutrition & Menu Oversight

Direct daily meal preparation and service to ensure all meals meet physician-ordered diets and individual nutritional needs.
Partner with the Registered Dietitian to develop, evaluate, and update menus that comply with regulations and accommodate therapeutic and texture-modified diets.
Ensure tray cards, diet lists, and resident preferences are accurate and effectively communicated.
Participate in care planning to support residents’ overall health and quality of life.

Leadership & Team Development

Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise dietary team members.
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and ongoing education.
Enforce food safety, sanitation, and workplace policies.
Foster a positive, resident-centered dining experience.

Food Safety & Compliance

Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including CMS and health department standards.
Oversee proper food storage, handling, preparation, and sanitation practices.
Conduct regular kitchen audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
Assist with preparation for surveys and inspections.

Inventory & Financial Stewardship

Manage department budget, including food, supplies, and equipment.
Order products cost-effectively while minimizing waste.
Maintain accurate inventory and purchasing records.

Collaboration & Customer Service

Work closely with nursing, activities, and leadership teams to support resident well-being.
Communicate dietary changes promptly and professionally.
Address resident and family concerns with care and responsiveness.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in nutrition, food service management, or related field preferred.
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM/CFPP) or ability to obtain certification within required timeframe.
Experience in long-term care or healthcare food service strongly preferred.
Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, and sanitation standards.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Prolonged standing, walking, and bending.
Ability to work in a warm kitchen setting.
