At Black Chapel Brewing, the bar and the kitchen go hand in hand. Our Beertenders aren't
just pouring pints — they're taking orders, running wood-fired pizzas to the table, keeping
the space clean, and making sure every guest feels at home from the moment they sit down
to the moment they leave.
We're on the 290 Wine Trail in Johnson City, TX, which means our guests arrive ready to
slow down and enjoy themselves. Your job is to pour great beer and wine, know what's on
the menu, and keep things running smoothly across the bar and the floor.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Pour and serve craft beer and wine with care and consistency
- Guide guests through the tap list — styles, flavors, and food pairings in plain,
enthusiastic language
- Take food and drink orders accurately and enter them into our POS system
- Run food from the kitchen to tables — timing matters, and so does presentation
- Bus and reset tables promptly so the floor keeps moving
- Keep the bar clean and organized throughout your shift — ongoing, not just end of night
- Restock coolers, rotate product, and assist with inventory counts
- Check IDs and follow TABC guidelines without exception
- Support setup and breakdown for events, tap releases, and private parties
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Prior restaurant, bar, or service experience preferred — we'll train the right person
- Comfortable working both behind the bar and on the floor
- Genuine interest in craft beer — you don't need to be an expert, but you need to want
to learn
- TABC certification or willingness to obtain before your first shift
- Texas Food Handler's certification or willingness to obtain
- Strong people skills — warm, confident, and able to read the room
- Weekend and holiday availability required
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs (kegs, cases)
- Team-first attitude — sweeping, stocking, and bussing tables is everyone's job here
