Salary: Up to $115,000/year; Based on experience

Our manufacturing client in the Glenville, NY area is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead quality assurance, inspection, and continuous improvement efforts within a metals-focused production environment.
This role is ideal for a hands-on quality leader with extensive experience in machine shops, contract manufacturing, metal fabrication, or similar operations. The Quality Manager will oversee inspection staff, strengthen quality systems, resolve production issues, and partner closely with engineering, operations, suppliers, and leadership to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.
Responsibilities of the Quality Control Manager will include:
- Lead, train, and supervise Quality Inspection staff while managing daily workflow and department schedules.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee coaching, development, and accountability.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance procedures, inspection protocols, and internal standards.
- Oversee inspections and testing to ensure products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards.
- Identify, document, and resolve quality issues affecting products, materials, or production processes.
- Lead corrective and preventive action efforts to address root causes and reduce repeat issues.
- Analyze manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to strengthen quality, efficiency, and product reliability.
- Use statistical methods, quality tools, and performance data to monitor trends and support continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate quality records, inspection results, corrective action documentation, and compliance files.
- Prepare and present quality reports, metrics, and findings to leadership and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with engineering, production, supply chain, and vendors to resolve quality concerns.
- Coordinate supplier quality expectations and address nonconforming materials or components.
- Provide training and guidance on quality standards, inspection methods, and best practices.
- Ensure continued compliance with ISO 9001, internal procedures, and applicable industry requirements.
- Support strategic quality initiatives and help guide the long-term direction of the quality function.
Qualifications for the role of Quality Control Manager:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 10 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role within a machine shop or contract manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience working in a metal fabrication, machining, or metals-focused manufacturing operation strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, ISO 9001 standards, quality methodologies, and inspection processes.
- Experience supervising, training, and developing quality or inspection personnel.
- Proficiency with quality measurement tools, inspection equipment, and related software.
- Strong blueprint reading and secondary documentation knowledge.
- Proficiency with GD&T requirements.
- Familiarity with a variety of metals and their characteristics.
- Strong analytical, root cause analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, wear required safety PPE, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
