Technicians:
As an integral part of our eye care practice, you will support our optometrists in delivering high quality patient care. Your role will involve conducting pre-examination testing, maintain patient records, and ensuring our equipment is in top condition.
Technician duties and responsibilities:
- Meet patients and assist with their care and eye problems
- Take and update patients' medical history
- Perform necessary eye examinations and tests on visual capabilities
- Prepare exam room and sterilize equipment
- Use and maintain ophthalmic equipment
- Answer patient questions and explain the testing process
- Schedule patients for emergency visits or eye exams
- Monitor inventory and stock exam rooms
Technician Requirements:
- Attention to detail: Technicians are required to be detail oriented. They work closely with the doctors and insurances to ensure charts are properly documented.
- Customer Service: Customer satisfaction is an essential factor in this position. Patients are more likely to return when the technicians are helpful, attentive, and friendly. A successful tech listens to their patients, documents their concerns and promptly gets the patient set up in an exam room for the optometrist.
- Problem Solving: Technicians encounter people with various eye and sight problems during the day. Whether the patient is near-sighted, far-sighted, or has any other visual difficulty, they must identify and understand the problem in order to provide the proper solution. Techs have to identify the difference between a medical eye visit vs a vision exam by listening and asking the patient the right questions.
- Time Management: No matter the environment, technicians must manage their time well and prioritize their work. They juggle patients, equipment, communication with co-workers and doctors, and many other responsibilities that require great organization and the ability to stay on track and complete every task properly, promptly, and professionally.
Hours: Mondays: 7:00am - 6:00pm, Tuesdays: 7:00am - 5:00pm, and Saturdays 7:00am - 12:00pm.
Technicians start leaving once the last patients come in for that day so it is rare that you will be here until the end of the work day.
You will have a set schedule with one day off during the week and 1 Saturday off during the month.
Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of optometry practices and excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in a similar role is preferred, but we are also open to enthusiastic individuals looking to grow in this field. If you are passionate about eye health and committed to providing exceptional service, we would love to hear from you! Attach your resume.
