POSITION TITLE: Electrical Assembler
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Electrical Manager
The Truck Electrical Assembler installs electrical control boxes, panels, sensors and related electrical equipment. The Assembler runs and terminates point-to-point wiring between lights, electrical equipment, control boxes and the battery. The ideal candidate comes from a truck or automotive manufacturing or repair background. GapVax is especially seeking technicians with automotive/truck electrical experience, mobile control systems experience and ability to program diesel engine ECM’s.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform electrical wiring associated with the integration of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, lighting and control systems on trucks. Wiring may be point-to-point, cordset, or wiring harness.
2. Assemble electrical control and junction boxes to print.
3. Assemble mobile equipment control systems including assembly of controllers, CAN network, HMI’s (displays, switches, buttons), input/output modules, sensors (thermal, pressure, motion), fuse boxes, corsets, operated devices.
4. Program diesel engine ECM with specific parameters using laptop and industry standard software.
5. Upload programs to mobile equipment controllers.
6. Perform operations such as wire cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, pinning all sizes of wire using the associated tools and equipment.
7. Use test equipment (i.e. gauges, power supplies, multi-meters) to perform continuity and troubleshoot problems on electrical operations including live circuits.
8. Use various equipment such as hand tools, saws, hand drill and drill press, grinders, multi-meters and other measurement devices.
9. Willing to train others.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
1. Ability to read, understand and follow electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and diagrams required for electrical assembly tasks.
2. Understanding of truck/automotive 12V electrical systems and diesel engine ECMs.
3. Ability to operate forklift, crane, hand truck, and other industrial equipment.
4. Ability to identify design improvements and communicate them with team leader and/or engineering department.
5. Ability to learn the operation of all types of trucks and accessories
6. Able to solve problems and think analytically
7. High school diploma or GED. Technical or vocational schooling preferred.
8. 2-3 years of truck or automotive manufacturing or repair experience or equivalent electrical assembly experience.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
10. Must have own electrical hand tools and appropriate storage
11. Understanding of J1939/CANBUS mobile equipment controls is a plus
