Full Job Description

CR Towing & Recovery is seeking a dependable, professional, and confident Part-Time Secretary/Receptionist to join our office team.

This is a fast-paced, customer-facing position in the towing and recovery industry. This is not a traditional quiet receptionist position. Our office handles police impounds, private towing customers, insurance companies, law enforcement agencies, drivers, vendors, and other businesses throughout the day.

The ideal candidate will be friendly and helpful while also being confident, organized, and able to remain professional in difficult situations.

Due to the nature of police towing and vehicle impounds, some customers may be upset, frustrated, argumentative, or unruly. The successful candidate must be able to remain calm, professional, and respectful under pressure while confidently explaining and enforcing company policies and vehicle-release requirements.

PAY & HOURS

$15.00–$20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Approximately 15–25 hours per week
Part-time, in-person position
Consistent scheduling
Potential for additional hours and higher pay as needed

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls appropriately
Greet and assist customers at the front counter
Assist customers with vehicle releases and explain required documentation and procedures
Verify identification, vehicle information, and required release documentation
Process cash, credit/debit card, and other customer payments
Issue receipts and maintain accurate transaction records
Enter and maintain vehicle, towing, customer, and impound information
Communicate with tow truck operators and management throughout the day
Communicate professionally with police departments, insurance companies, lienholders, vendors, and other businesses
Assist with dispatch and driver communication when necessary
Prepare, scan, copy, file, and organize documents
Assist with invoicing and general office recordkeeping
Maintain accurate and organized customer and company records
Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
Perform general administrative and clerical duties
Maintain a clean and professional front-office environment
Assist management and other office personnel as needed

CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS

Our office staff regularly interact with customers who may be dealing with stressful situations involving accidents, vehicle breakdowns, police impounds, or unexpected expenses.

Applicants must be able to:

Remain calm and professional when dealing with upset or argumentative customers
Communicate clearly without becoming confrontational
Confidently explain and enforce company policies
De-escalate difficult customer interactions whenever possible
Know when a situation should be referred to management
Maintain professionalism regardless of a customer's attitude or behavior
Treat every customer respectfully while protecting the interests and policies of the company

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong customer service and communication skills
Professional telephone and in-person demeanor
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Basic computer skills and ability to learn company-specific software
Ability to work independently and follow established procedures
Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Dependable and punctual
Reliable transportation
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Comfortable handling payments and basic financial transactions
Ability to remain composed under pressure

Previous experience in reception, administrative work, customer service, dispatching, towing, automotive, law enforcement support, collections, or another fast-paced customer-facing environment is preferred but not required.

Training will be provided for the right candidate.
