DOULA AND YOUNG DADS ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM MANAGER

THE ROLE

The Doula and Young Dads Engagement Program Manager is accountable for two connected programs that support young families during pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. The manager leads the people and systems behind this work: supporting staff through reflective supervision, ensuring participants receive timely and responsive services, maintaining reliable birth support coverage, and using data and participant feedback to improve practice, demonstrate impact, and report outcomes to funders and other stakeholders.

The manager brings calm leadership to work that is relational, unpredictable, and time sensitive. The role balances staff support with clear expectations, protects the scope and integrity of doula and father-engagement services, and builds strong connections across TPC programs and the maternal-health community.

WHAT THIS ROLE OWNS

1. A strong, supported team

Provide regular individual and group reflective supervision that supports sound judgment, professional growth, accountability, and staff well-being.
Recruit, onboard, and retain qualified program staff; coordinate ongoing training, mentoring, and required credentials.
Monitor performance and address concerns promptly, consistently, and in accordance with TPC policies.
Participate in an after-hours support, remaining accessible by phone to provide timely guidance to doula staff during births or other urgent participant needs.
Provide timely support to doulas during and after births through check-ins, backup coordination, and post-birth debriefing as needed.

2. Reliable, participant-centered services

Actively manage program enrollment, the participant waitlist, and caseload assignments to ensure families move through the process efficiently, remain engaged, and are matched with services based on their needs, due dates, continuity of care, and staff capacity.
Maintain an equitable and dependable on-call system and arrange backup coverage when needed; provide birth coverage when necessary.
Monitor the quality and timeliness of prenatal, labor and birth, and postpartum support, including referrals and transitions to other TPC or community services.
Ensure services are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, strength-based, confidential, and grounded in the community-based doula scope of practice.

3. Effective childbirth education

In collaboration with the Pregnancy and Parenting Support Groups Manager, prepare, coach, and supervise doula staff who lead childbirth education classes.
Partner with the Pregnancy and Parenting Support Groups Manager to plan the class schedule, align curriculum, anticipate participant needs, and coordinate logistics within TPC’s broader group program.
Review participant feedback and class outcomes to strengthen content and delivery.

4. Strong young-father engagement

Provide reflective and administrative supervision, direction, and support to the Dads Engagement Coordinator.
Ensure services strengthen parent-child relationships, healthy co-parenting, and progress toward participants' goals.
Promote participation in other TPC programs with a goal of providing integrated support to meet the family's needs.
Monitor participation, service quality, participant feedback, and Young Dads Engagement outcomes to strengthen retention, improve program effectiveness, and accurately report progress and impact to funders.

5. Quality, compliance, and results

Maintain clear program procedures and ensure compliance with TPC policies, funder requirements, mandated-reporting obligations, confidentiality standards, and applicable professional guidance.
Review participant records and service documentation for accuracy, timeliness, quality, and risk management.
Track enrollment, service delivery, participant experience, birth and father-engagement outcomes, and other required measures; prepare accurate reports and use findings to improve both programs.
Maintain a schedule of ongoing case consultation, training, and quality-improvement activities with the Doula Program Clinical Consultant and Director of Programs.

6. Connected program leadership

Maintain productive relationships with hospitals, medical providers, midwives, public health centers, schools, funders, referral sources, and community partners.
Represent the Doula and Young Dads Engagement programs in TPC management meetings, funder or site visits, and relevant community forums.
Keep the Director of Programs informed of program performance, staffing needs, emerging risks, significant participant concerns, and opportunities for improvement or growth.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the Doula and Young Dads Engagement programs and advance Teen Parent Connection’s mission.
Partner with the Intake/Outreach Coordinator and Home Visiting Program Manager to coordinate participant engagement, service delivery, and transitions between doula, home visiting, and other TPC programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, nursing, education, early childhood development, or related field.
Professional training and experience as a birth doula, or comparable maternal-health experience that prepares the individual to supervise doula practice and provide backup birth support.
At least four years of relevant professional experience, including experience in supervising staff or managing a community-based human-services or maternal-health program.
Working knowledge of pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum recovery, infant health, lactation support, and the appropriate scope and boundaries of doula care.
Experience supporting families facing multiple challenges using trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strength-based practices.
Demonstrated skills in reflective supervision, coaching, conflict resolution, organization, written documentation, and professional communication.
Ability to respond calmly to urgent situations, manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment, effectively solve problems.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

This position requires at least 60% of the workweek to be completed in the office or at community, home-visiting, and healthcare locations throughout DuPage County. Up to 40% may be worked remotely, as scheduling permits and with supervisor approval. The employee must be able to drive to service locations; climb stairs and enter sites in varied weather; communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing; and lift or carry up to 35 pounds. On-call availability and occasional evening or weekend work are required. Transportation of participants is not required.

The salary range for this full-time, non-exempt position is $58,000–$62,000 annually, with the final salary determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. This position is eligible for Teen Parent Connection’s employee benefits package in accordance with the terms and eligibility requirements of applicable benefit plans and agency policies.
