RV Service Production Manager
Southern RV | McDonough, Georgia
Southern RV is seeking an experienced RV Service Production Manager to join our flagship service operation in McDonough, Georgia.
Founded in 1980, Southern RV has grown into one of the most recognized RV dealerships in the Southeast. We have been named an RVBusiness Top 50 Dealer in North America for two consecutive years and are a three-time Inc. 5000 award winner, recognizing our continued growth and performance.
Our McDonough location is the foundation of Southern RV and operates a comprehensive RV service facility with dedicated service bays, extensive parts support, collision and paint capabilities, and a team servicing some of the premier RV brands in the industry.
And we're continuing to grow.
Southern RV is now expanding its service capabilities with the launch of mobile RV service, creating another way for our service organization to reach customers and further expanding the scope of our service operation.
We are looking for a Production Manager who can help us manage that growth.
The Position
The RV Service Production Manager is responsible for controlling the daily movement of repair work through our McDonough service department.
This person will organize repair orders, route work to technicians, monitor production, identify bottlenecks, assist with technical direction, and make sure there is always a clear answer to one important question:
What needs to happen next to get this RV completed?
This is not simply a scheduling position, and it is not a traditional service-advisor role.
We need someone with meaningful RV service experience who understands the technical side of the business and can combine that knowledge with strong organization, communication, and operational leadership.
The Production Manager will work directly with service advisors, technicians, parts personnel, warranty personnel, mobile service, and management to keep work moving efficiently through the department.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Manage the daily production flow of Southern RV's McDonough service operation
- Organize, prioritize, and route open repair orders
- Assign work based on technician experience, skill level, workload, job complexity, and available capacity
- Maintain visibility into technician workload and overall shop capacity
- Monitor repair orders throughout the production process
- Identify stalled repairs and take action to move them forward
- Coordinate around parts availability, customer authorization, warranty approval, diagnostics, and other production dependencies
- Assist service advisors with technical questions and repair planning
- Serve as a technical and operational resource for technicians and service personnel
- Review repair orders for proper documentation, completeness, and next steps
- Coordinate customer-pay, warranty, maintenance, internal, and other repair work
- Work closely with the Parts Department to ensure components are identified and available when needed
- Help coordinate work between our traditional dealership service operation and our new mobile service division
- Improve technician productivity, repair cycle time, shop utilization, and overall throughput
- Maintain accurate repair and production information within dealership service-management systems
- Communicate production issues quickly and clearly
- Help create accountability throughout the repair process
- Support a professional, organized, productive, and team-oriented service environment
What We're Looking For:
This position requires someone who understands RV service.
The ideal candidate has worked inside a successful RV dealership or professional RV service operation and understands the complexity involved in repairing today's recreational vehicles.
Qualifications
- Significant RV service experience
- Strong working knowledge of RV systems, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair
- Service advisor, shop foreman, dispatcher, production manager, technical lead, or similar dealership experience
- Ability to understand repair orders and establish appropriate repair direction
- Ability to manage numerous active repair orders simultaneously
- Experience coordinating and routing technician work
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Familiarity with dealership-management systems, service software, electronic repair orders, and related technology
- Strong communication skills with technicians, advisors, parts personnel, management, and customers
- Ability to identify problems, make decisions, and take ownership of the solution
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Team-oriented leadership style
- Dependability and professionalism
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the department and our customers
You Should Know What's Happening in the Shop
A successful Production Manager doesn't manage service from a spreadsheet alone.
You should know:
Which RVs are being worked on?
Which ones are waiting?
Why are they waiting?
Which technician has capacity?
Is the technician waiting on a part?
Are we waiting for authorization?
Does the advisor need technical direction?
Has a diagnosis stalled?
Can another technician complete the next phase of the repair?
Could mobile service handle the work more efficiently?
And, most importantly:
What are we doing about it?
We are looking for someone who naturally thinks this way.
Someone who sees twenty open repair orders and doesn't just see twenty customers—someone who sees twenty individual production processes that need to be actively managed toward completion.
