Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Wound Care Nurse, where your expertise will directly impact patient recovery and quality of life. In this vital role, you will assess, develop, and implement comprehensive wound management plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional care in a long-term care setting. Your dedication will help promote healing, prevent infections, and improve patient outcomes through expert wound care practices.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough patient assessments focusing on wound characteristics, physiology, and overall health status to determine appropriate treatment strategies.
Monitor wound progress regularly by evaluating vital signs, infection signs, and tissue healing to adjust treatments proactively.
Manage medical documentation accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Administer medications and injections safely while adhering to established protocols and medication administration guidelines.
Educate patients and their families on wound care procedures, hygiene practices, and prevention strategies.
Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care plans.
Collaborate with colleagues on the on-call team daily.

Requirements

Valid nursing license with current registration.
Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems along with strong medical terminology knowledge for accurate documentation.
Experience with IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and injection techniques essential for comprehensive patient care.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to skin integrity, infection control practices, and healing processes.
Ability to perform patient assessments efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; familiarity with HIPAA compliance is mandatory.
