Full Job Description

Summary: Oversee the daily activities of the Safety, Risk Management, and Training functions.

Duties:

Supervises and assists the personnel in Safety, Risk Management, and Training.
Assists the insurance company and attorneys in the defense of accident litigations filed against PTL
Assist the insurance company and attorneys in the defense of worker's compensation litigations filed against PTL
Assist the VP, Safety & Risk Management
Process payroll for Safety & Risk Management
Respond to daily service failures
Review daily accident reports
Attend daily service failure meeting
Review accidents with drivers to determine preventability, corrective action, and/or disciplinary action, then implementing that action
Review cargo claims and the recommended decision
Review accident repair expense purchase orders
Keep abreast of changes in DOT and OSHA regulations
Review trade publications for relevant information and distribute to appropriate parties.
Assists coworkers as needed with other Safety and Rick Management functions.
Follows set procedures the majority of the time

Required:

· Education and Experience: 2 plus years in Safety, Risk or compliance/regulatory experience preferred

· BS in Business, OSHA, or Safety related field preferred

Special Skills:

Keyboarding, computer operation, attention to detail, critical thinking, exceptional verbal and non-verbal communication, organization, time management, leadership skills.

Physical:

Continuous sitting, repetitive keyboard movements, telephone communications in a fast-paced environment.

Environmental:

Office environment.

WORKER ATTRIBUTES

Talking: Must be able to clearly relay important instructions and ensure they’re understood.
Listening: Giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions when appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Time Management: Manage one’s own time and the time of others.
Coordination: Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
Service Orientation: Actively looking for ways to help people.

Operation and Control: Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
