When needed you may be able to work as a laborer for the excavating business to get more hours.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily animal care routines, including feeding, watering, and monitoring health and behavior of livestock such as cattle & horses
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, harvesters, irrigation systems, and power tools
- Perform equipment repairs and welding tasks to ensure all machinery remains in optimal condition
- Support planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops in fields
- Manage heavy lifting tasks and operate heavy equipment like bobcats and other farm vehicles safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine inspections of fences, and animal enclosures to ensure safety and proper operation
- Assist with general maintenance tasks including hand tool use, equipment cleaning, and welding repairs
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience repairing farm machinery and equipment
- Strong animal husbandry skills with knowledge of animal handling and care practices
- Ability to operate bobcats, heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools safely
- Familiarity with farming practices such as crop growing, & cattle management
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to planting or feeding schedules
- Experience with welding repairs and equipment maintenance is highly desirable
- Knowledge of equine care if working with horses or similar animals is a plus
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and performing manual labor throughout the workday
