Position Overview: Rangefront Mining Services is seeking an Underground Production Geologist to support one of our mining industry clients. This role supports safe and efficient underground mining operations through geological mapping, sampling, ore control, and hazard identification. Working primarily underground, the Production Geologist collects and interprets geological data that guides production activities, supports safe mining practices, and optimizes ore recovery.
The position follows a 14-days-on, 14-days-off rotation and may occasionally require night shift coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
Geological Mapping & Ore Control
- Conduct face mapping and sampling of active headings.
- Collect, document, and prepare samples for assay.
- Interpret geology, structure, and mineralization to support production decisions.
- Provide geologic guidance for heading advancement and stope development.
- Maintain accurate geological records and mapping data.
Ground Control & Hazard Assessment
- Identify and communicate geologic and geotechnical hazards.
- Evaluate ground conditions and support requirements.
- Provide structural interpretations to help predict conditions ahead of mining.
- Map completed stopes and excavation walls to identify instability or mining opportunities.
Environmental & Reporting Support
- Classify ore and waste materials and provide muck pile calls.
- Collect samples for acid rock drainage (ARD) characterization.
- Prepare ARD and daily production reports.
- Enter geological data into databases and mine planning software.
- Participate in production and planning meetings.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Survey, and Environmental teams.
- Communicate geological observations and recommendations effectively.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with geological model updates.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a closely related field required.
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in mining or exploration geology required.
- Underground mining experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with ore control, geological mapping, sampling, and structural interpretation preferred.
- Experience working in an active production environment is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience using AutoCAD, acQuire, or comparable geological database and mapping software.
- Knowledge of Deswik, Leapfrog, Vulcan, Surpac, or other mining and geological modeling software preferred.
- Understanding of underground mining methods and mine production practices.
- Familiarity with geologic mapping techniques, sampling protocols, and ore control procedures.

- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret geological data.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:
- Stand, walk, climb, balance, crouch, kneel, and navigate uneven underground terrain.
- Use hands and fingers to handle tools, equipment, and geological samples.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Operate vehicles, utility equipment, and lift platforms in an underground mine environment.
- Maintain close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception necessary for safely identifying vehicles, equipment, mine hazards, and personnel.
- Adjust focus and maintain situational awareness while working in changing underground conditions.
Work Environment
- Primarily conducted in an active underground mining operation.
- Regular exposure to dust, noise, vibration, heavy equipment traffic, and changing ground conditions.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, must be worn as required.
- Occasional night work may be required to support operational needs.
