Full Job Description

A Line Cook prepares food and makes sure Servers deliver each dish to customers in a timely manner. A Line Cook is responsible for that station’s workflow and getting meals out on time. They oversee the cooking process from start to finish and determine how much time each step requires.

Line Cook Responsibilities:

Assists with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations
Prepares food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and snacks
Plates prepared foods based on Executive Chef's guidance
Works with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
Ensures that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations
Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition.

Line Cook Skills / Qualifications:

Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures
Previous experience desired
Familiarity with industry’s best practices
Time-management skills
Decision making
Handles pressure well

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
Formal culinary training can be helpful
Kitchen experience

Work Environment:

On-the-job training
Flexible working hours

Being parents of 2 young kids, we wanted a fun place to hang out, relax, and have a few drinks with friends and family year round! So we created The Backyard of Kalamazoo! Our kitchen and bar feature fresh, locally sourced food, beer/wine, and cocktails! The Yard will feature 10 acres of fenced in fun for the whole family! Seasonal yard games, kids games, activities and more will be setup daily. We are located at the corner of Stadium Drive and 1st Street in Kalamazoo.

We are looking for hardworking, honest, and social individuals that thrive in a fast paced environment!

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
