Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Drafter is responsible for maintaining and updating engineering and facility drawings to support ongoing operations, maintenance, capital projects, and regulatory compliance activities at a large pharmaceutical site in Kalamazoo, MI. This role works closely with engineering, maintenance, project management, and technical services personnel to ensure drawing accuracy and document integrity across multiple disciplines.

The successful candidate will possess strong drafting skills, experience with AutoCAD, and the ability to manage technical documentation in a highly regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform general updates and revisions to engineering, facility, utility, process, and equipment drawings.
Reconcile project-generated drawing changes with existing master drawing files to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Create project-specific drawing files from approved master drawings for engineering and capital projects.
Maintain drawing databases and document management systems in accordance with site procedures.
Review completed project documentation and incorporate approved changes into master records.
Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and project teams to gather and verify design information.
Support drawing quality control efforts by identifying discrepancies and ensuring compliance with drafting standards.
Manage drawing revisions, version control, and document archival activities.
Assist with the organization and maintenance of engineering records and technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Design Technology, or related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
Proficiency with AutoCAD.
Strong technical drafting and drawing interpretation skills.
Experience with document control and document management processes.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently within established procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Familiarity with multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, process, piping, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, or facilities systems.
Experience supporting capital projects and engineering change management processes.
Familiarity with electronic document management systems and engineering records management.
