Position Summary and Primary Objective:
The Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Ambassador will support the nonpartisan #PrepforthePolls campaign through immersive, one-on-one voter engagement tools and help eligible community members register to vote, understand their voting options, create a voting plan, and participate in the 2026 elections. This role is community-facing and requires clear communication, reliability, accurate information sharing, and a strong commitment to nonpartisan civic engagement.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Community Outreach
- Utilize #PrepforthePolls messaging, materials, and information to communicate with students and community members.
- Connect with community members, organizational staff, WMU leadership and/or Campus Life staff, and others in planning and hosting #PrepforthePolls experiences.
- Conduct approved nonpartisan outreach, including digital and phone communications, hosting voter engagement experiences, attending community events, social media engagement, and one-on-one voter conversations.
- Set-up, take-down, transport, maintain, and store #PrepforthePolls materials and equipment.
- Provide accurate voting information, including registration options, early voting, mail-in voting, polling locations, voter ID information, and election deadlines.
- Track outreach activities and submit required reports by the deadlines.
- Attend all scheduled #PrepforthePolls engagement activities, management, and evaluation meetings with KZCF.

- Ability to protect confidential information and use voter or participant information only for approved GOTV work.
- Access to reliable transportation or the ability to travel to approved outreach locations, events, and check-ins.
Preferred Skills, Certifications, Training, Education, and Competencies:
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a college or university, with at least sophomore standing preferred
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- While working virtually, the remote environment must have consistent access to high-speed internet, free from distractions, confidential space and workspace must be safe and free from hazards.
- Work in well-lit, pleasant, smoke-free office.
- Occasionally requires physical activity, including heavy lifting and other strenuous tasks, as required by KZCF operations.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time, including one’s entire shift.
- Frequent requirement to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently involves extended workdays and periodically involves irregular work hours.
- Regular group and public speaking.
- Occasional work at multiple sites, travel and/or overnight work schedules.
- Requires attention to detail and ability to concentrate on figures, paperwork, data, etc.
- Frequent pressures related to meeting deadlines and fulfilling scheduling requirements.
- Frequent distracting influences such as people, phone calls, noise and so forth.
- Frequent simultaneous handling of multiple tasks and intermittent or cyclical work pressures.
- Occasionally requires on-call availability to handle work problems, emergencies/crisis situations etc.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Regularly lift, transport, and position materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Regularly load and unload materials from lower shelves by bending, stooping, and crouching on a daily basis.
- Ability to be outdoors for extended periods of time.
- Frequently walks long distances in varying environmental settings
- Regularly traverses routes which may include exposure to wet, slippery, muddy, or rough walking surfaces
- Constantly works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind.
- Routine exposure to sun, allergens, pollen, and natural elements
Residency
- KZCF staff are required to reside within KZCF’s service area within one (1) year from the day their employment begins. Residency is defined as the actual place where an employee lives and has their true, permanent home to which, whenever he or she is absent, they have an intention of returning. Service Area is defined as Kalamazoo County and no more than thirty (30) miles outside of the county limits.
