Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented 2nd & 3rd shift Lathe Operators to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathe machines to produce precision metal components. Your expertise in machining tools, blueprint reading, and CNC programming will ensure that parts meet strict quality standards and specifications. This position offers an energetic environment where your mechanical knowledge and machining skills will drive efficiency and excellence in production.

Responsibilities

Set up CNC lathe machines, including tool selection, calibration, and fixture installation, ensuring optimal operation for each job.
Operate manual and CNC lathes with precision, adhering to detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
Program CNC G-code and M-code using Fanuc or similar control systems to produce complex parts accurately.
Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments to verify part tolerances.
Conduct machine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime.
Interpret mechanical blueprints and utilize GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure parts meet quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area while following safety protocols, including proper use of hand tools, power tools, grinders, welding equipment, and forklift operation when necessary.
Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements and reducing waste.
Assist with tooling setup and changeovers efficiently to meet production schedules.

Experience

Proven experience operating CNC lathe machines in a manufacturing environment with a focus on metal machining.
Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; familiarity with Fanuc controls is preferred.
Skilled in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting technical drawings with GD&T specifications.
Hands-on experience with machining tools including grinders, milling machines, bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly and perform basic maintenance tasks.
Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or CAD programs used for part design is advantageous but not required.
Basic math skills for measurement calculations and quality control procedures.
Ability to work efficiently on manual machining tasks when necessary while maintaining high precision standards.
Knowledge of safety procedures related to machine setup, operation, welding, welding safety protocols, plastics injection molding processes, and forklift operation is a plus.
