The Nate Chute Foundation supports, educates, and empowers our communities to promote mental wellness and reduce suicide. The Nate Chute Foundation was founded in 1999 by Terry Chute and Jane Kollmeyer. Thanks to unwavering community support, NCF has grown from an all-volunteer, kitchen-table organization to a robust nonprofit with staff serving communities throughout northwest Montana. NCF provides evidence-based and evidence-informed training and educational programs to schools across the Flathead Valley, and to various organizations and communities. These initiatives aim to build resilience and increase intervention efforts throughout the county. Additionally, NCF strives to enhance access to mental health services by offering financial aid for professional counseling to individuals grappling with mental health issues.
Position Summary:
The Nate Chute Foundation is seeking a part-time Social Media & Community Engagement Manager to support its digital presence and community outreach efforts during a critical fundraising and awareness season. This role will begin with a short onboarding and ramp-up period in June, with the expectation that the candidate becomes familiar with NCF’s mission, programs, voice, and community presence quickly in preparation for the Great Fish Community Challenge—NCF’s largest annual fundraiser—which launches August 12. The ideal candidate is creative, highly responsive, strategic in their thinking, comfortable engaging publicly on behalf of an organization, and interested in nonprofit communications, mental health advocacy, and digital engagement. This role is not limited to simply posting content. It includes active community engagement, understanding audience behavior, helping guide strategy based on analytics and performance data, and contributing to a dynamic, fast-paced campaign environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and interactions across NCF social media platforms in a timely and thoughtful manner
● Maintain, update and follow NCF’s social media policy
● Engage with relevant mental health, nonprofit, and community-based content within established organizational guidelines
● Build familiarity with NCF’s programs, mission, partnerships, and communication style
● Support a consistent and active social media presence across platforms
● Help strengthen community engagement and supporter relationships online Great Fish Community Challenge Campaign Support (Late July – September)
● Assist in planning and executing NCF’s social media strategy for the Great Fish Community Challenge
● Help communicate fundraising goals, campaign milestones, and donor impact in engaging and mission-driven ways
● Share content that clearly illustrates the impact of donor support and the scope of NCF’s work
● Promote campaign side contests, incentive grants, events, and giving opportunities
● Actively support and amplify other participating nonprofits as part of the broader community campaign
● Support real-time engagement and responsiveness during high-volume campaign periods Strategy, Analytics & Audience Growth
● Monitor post performance, engagement metrics, audience behavior, and platform analytics to help inform strategy
● Assist in identifying effective posting schedules, content timing, and engagement approaches based on data and trends
● Help evaluate when content may benefit from boosted promotion or strategic adjustments
● Observe and identify patterns in high-performing content, audience interaction, and campaign engagement
● Contribute ideas around increasing reach, engagement, donor conversion, and community interaction Content & Communications Support (Potential Ongoing Role)
● Assist with content creation, including graphics, captions, short-form video, and storytelling content
● Develop social media assets for campaigns, events, and community initiatives
● Help maintain an active and engaging year-round social media presence
● Potentially support broader communications efforts such as newsletters, email campaigns, donor communications, and event promotion
Qualifications
● Interest in digital marketing, communications, nonprofit work, or community engagement
● Strong written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone appropriately across audiences and platforms
● Comfortable publicly engaging on behalf of an organization in a professional, thoughtful, and community-centered manner
● Ability to work independently, remain highly responsive, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
● Ability to quickly learn and apply organizational voice, messaging, and communication guidelines
● Familiarity with major social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook
● Understanding of how algorithms, audience behavior, trends, and engagement patterns influence social media performance
● Ability to interpret social media analytics and use engagement data to inform posting schedules, content strategy, and campaign effectiveness
● Creative and strategic thinker with interest in audience growth and digital engagement
● Experience with Canva or similar design/content tools preferred

● This role requires professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity when engaging in mental health-related conversations and community discussions
● Candidate should be comfortable working in a collaborative but fast-moving campaign environment with evolving priorities
● All public engagement and messaging will follow NCF guidelines and approval processes
