Job Title: Kitchen & Packaging Associate
Reports to: Edibles Manager
Location: Kalkaska, MI
Salary Range: Starting at $15 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Thursday 5 AM to 3:30 PM or 6:30 AM-5:00 PM
Position Objective:
The Kitchen & Packaging Associate is a dual role, where you are cross-trained in the kitchen and packaging areas.
The Kitchen Tech plays a critical role in our edibles kitchen, supporting the production of infused products that meet our high-quality standards. This is an entry-level, hands-on role for individuals who excel in team settings, stay organized under pressure, and are motivated to grow within the cannabis industry. Successful candidates will have opportunities to grow within the company, including cross-training in other departments or advancement into “lead” roles.
Packagers are responsible for providing secure, professional quality, fully compliant exit packaging for all products produced by the facility. They are also responsible for assisting with any necessary assignments that are due to be completed. Cartridge Fillers are responsible for administering bulk distillate into individual cartridges in an exceptionally effective manner, actively working to eliminate any possible contaminants. One would be responsible for producing excellent quality products for the company.
Essential Functions:
Kitchen
- Participate in daily edible production based on a set schedule
- Level and pour molten product into silicone molds
- De-mold and inspect final products for quality assurance
- Prepare workstations and materials for upcoming production runs
- Support Research & Development efforts as directed
- Maintain a clean and compliant workspace throughout each shift
- Rotate between roles as needed to ensure a fluid production process
- Communicate clearly with teammates and supervisors
- Assist in deep cleaning, sanitizing, and general upkeep of production area
Packaging
- Responsible for providing secure, professional quality, fully compliant exit packaging for all products produced by the facility.
- Must possess the willingness to obtain and/or assemble necessary tools in order to complete assigned tasks.
- Must have the ability to clean used tools in an area which contains concentrated amounts of ethanol.
- Must have excellent communication skills and possess the ability to work with a diverse set of personalities and learning styles.
- May assist with stickering.
- Must wear the mandated(assigned) uniform i.e. hair net/beard net/gloves/scrubs/etc.
- Must possess the ability to learn how to produce excellent quality cartridges.
- Must possess a willingness to participate in janitorial assignments.
- Must assist in maintaining a clean, presentable, functional facility.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to follow SOPs, Work Instructions, and food safety procedures
- Demonstrated attention to detail with accuracy and strong organization skills
- Excellent problem solving/judgment skills
- Self-motivated with a high degree of personal accountability
- Strong time management and team collaboration skills
- Comfortable maintaining compliance documentation and batch records
- Understanding of (or willingness to learn) Metrc and Where4 systems
- Must obtain a valid Food Handler Certification by start date
- Willingness to pivot to support other areas of the facility as needed
- Must pass background check per state cannabis regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior kitchen or food production experience
- Previous experience in the cannabis industry a plus
Physical & Environmental Demands
- On feet and physically active 90% of the shift (kitchen)
- Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time (packaging)
- Lift 50 lbs regularly; lift 20 lbs repetitively throughout the day
- Work in a fast-paced, hot/cold environment (seasonally dependent)
- Must be comfortable in loud settings and capable of clear verbal communication
- Wear all required PPE (bump caps, hair nets, beard nets, safety glasses, sleeves, and slip-resistant footwear.
