Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and customer-focused Medical Receptionist to join our busy optometry practice. As the first and last point of contact for our patients, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment while efficiently managing appointments, verifying insurance and ensuring a seamless patient experience.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical office operations, patient care, and optical services. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a patient-centered environment by managing front desk responsibilities, supporting clinical procedures, and ensuring seamless clinic operations. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills, proficiency with electronic health records, and a comprehensive understanding of medical billing as it relates to optometry specifically.

Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and facilitate smooth patient intake processes.
Schedule, confirm and reschedule patient appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system and online scheduling platform.
Verify patient demographics, check insurance eligibility and obtain prior authorizations when necessary.
Manage medical records accurately, including scanning, updating, and retrieving patient documentation while adhering to privacy standards.
Support billing and coding procedures related to optometry services, ensuring accurate documentation for insurance claims.
Collect co-pays, proces payments, and assist with billing inquiries at check out.

Qualifications

Expressed knowledge of patient care practices within an optometry setting.
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient privacy at all times.
Knowledge of optical products and ability to take and process contact lens orders.
Ability to perform medical and vision insurance billing accurately within an optometry setting.
Excellent organizational skills combined with effective communication abilities for front desk operations and patient interactions.
