Family & Community Life Pastor
Position Type: Part-Time
Expected Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week if filled by an individual. If filled by a couple, the primary candidate will work approximately 20 hours per week, and the ministry spouse will work approximately 5 hours per week (including Sundays, Wednesdays, ministry planning, team communication, and preparation time).
Reports To: Lead Pastor
Staffing Note: This position may be filled by an individual or by a ministry couple. The church expects a consistent ministry presence in order to lead family and community life effectively, strengthen volunteer culture, and support healthy ministry rhythms. If the candidate is married and the ministry spouse is not separately hired by the church, the church asks that the ministry spouse be supportive of the time commitments and ministry schedule associated with this role. The ministry spouse is not required to serve in an official capacity unless separately hired or formally volunteering by choice.
Salary: $25,000 - $28,000
Church Context: 35–45 average Sunday attendance | 55–65 Wednesday attendance
Urban, fast-growing community | Focus on young families
Ministry Note: We have a strong culture of volunteerism, but our volunteer base is limited because we are a small church. This role includes hands-on leadership on Sundays and Wednesdays, alongside developing simple, repeatable systems that help volunteers succeed. The Family & Community Life Pastor will work closely with parents, volunteers, and ministry leaders to build a ministry culture marked by warmth, clarity, consistency, preparation, and sustainability.
Role Summary
The Family & Community Life Pastor provides spiritual, relational, and organizational leadership for the family and community life ministries of The Message Community Church. Because we are a small church with a high percentage of volunteers (but a limited number of people), this is a hands-on “player-coach” role: building clear ministry systems while also leading, teaching, coordinating volunteers, and helping execute key ministry moments that support Sundays, Wednesdays, and community connection efforts.
This role blends family ministry leadership, volunteer development, and community connection to ensure our ministry culture reflects who we are: Christ-centered, relational, family-focused, and forward-moving. It plays a vital role in shaping discipleship pathways, volunteer health, guest integration, and ministry consistency across Sundays, Wednesdays, and key outreach moments. This role exists to create healthy, sustainable ministry rhythms—so children, students, parents, volunteers, guests, and ministry leaders can clearly engage the mission, direction, and life of the church.
