Full Job Description

Overview
Join our team as a CAD/CAM Specialist and become a vital contributor to our manufacturing processes. Leverage your expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to help design parts, produce precise tooling and fixtures, and create accurate machine run programs for our CNC mills, routers, lathes, and 3D printing equipment. Your technical skills will drive efficiency, quality, and innovation across our production lines. This position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge machinery and software. Training, professional support from the outside, and continued education to build and improve skills will be provided.

Duties

Develop detailed CAD models and technical drawings using AutoCAD Inventor/Fusion and other software to support our manufacturing projects and operations.
Program CNC machines such as lathes, routers, milling machines, and PLC controlled forming equipment used to optimize our machining and manufacturing processes.
Create and validate CNC programs for various pieces of equipment ensuring accurate tool paths and efficient cycle times.
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and part drawing specifications to ensure parts meet or will be built to specified quality standards.
Utilize precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, PI tapes, bore gauges, and electronic measuring machines to verify part dimensions and produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings of existing parts and new parts.
Collaborate with internal design personnel and customers to design new parts and products and develop proper manufacturing processes to enable their production.
Collaborate with technical staff of equipment suppliers and other professionals to trouble shoot equipment, improve operational effectiveness, diagnose production or operational problems. and refine machining techniques for optimal results.
Collaborate with production staff and teams to seek new opportunities and ways to improve our manufacturing quality and efficiency.

Experience/Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD software, SolidWorks, CATIA, or other CAD/CAM software platforms.
Mechanical knowledge of how things work and the ability to grasp the ideas of others.
Solid math and thinking skills including geometry, three dimensional imaging, timing and sequencing, and creative problem solving.
Working knowledge of CAD design software tools, CAD/CAM programming, 3D printing, and laser cutting/engraving equipment. Experience with CNC milling machines and CNC lathes is a definite plus.
Ability to interpret technical schematics and schematics related to tooling setups and machine configurations.
Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening, team building and participation, and a high level of desire for making things better for others by using the tools and skills that are at you disposal.
