Job Requirements: The Senior Electrical Field Commissioning Technician will work across a variety of functional groups and locations, that are directly involved in electrical estimating, engineering, construction, commissioning, project management, documentation, owner relations, and follow-up. The industrial electrical commissioning specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that electrical systems within industrial facilities are installed, tested, and operational according to specifications and safety standards. Overall the electrical commissioning specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems in industrial settings, contributing to the success of construction projects and ongoing facility operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Organize, supervise and manage electrical contractor activities.
- Track progress of electrical installations.
- Verify engineering drawings; red-line as required.
- Help define engineering needs and priorities.
- Assist with scheduling and progress reporting.
- Proposes solutions for electrical challenges faced at the job site.
- Liaison between on-site challenges and the electrical engineering team at the home office.
- Communicates to Site Manager, Project Manager, and Electrical Manager the progress, potential challenges, and schedule for installations.
- Lead and manage commissioning activities.
- Verify work quality, integrity, and conformity.
- Assist electricians with technical or code related questions.
- Help propose solutions to problems.
- Ensure safety practices are maintained
- System Installation Oversight: They oversee the installation of electrical systems, including power distribution systems, control panels, motors, lighting, and other electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with design specifications and applicable codes and regulations.
- Commissioning Planning: They develop commissioning plans and schedules, outlining the steps and procedures required to verify the proper functioning of electrical systems.
- Testing and Verification: They conduct comprehensive testing of electrical systems to verify their performance and functionality. This may include testing circuits, voltage levels, insulation resistance, grounding systems, protective relays, and control logic.
- Troubleshooting: They troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues that arise during commissioning, working closely with electricians, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve problems promptly.
- Documentation: They generate detailed documentation, including commissioning reports, test procedures, equipment manuals, and as-built drawings, to record the status and performance of electrical systems for future reference.
- Safety Compliance: They ensure that all electrical installations and commissioning activities adhere to safety protocols and regulations to minimize the risk of accidents or hazards in the workplace.
- Training and Support: They provide training and support to maintenance personnel and operators on the proper operation and maintenance of electrical systems, including troubleshooting techniques and safety procedures.
- Quality Assurance: They maintain a focus on quality assurance throughout the commissioning process, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to ensure that electrical systems meet performance standards and project requirements.
- Collaboration: They collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and vendors to coordinate commissioning activities and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Continual Learning: They stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to electrical systems and commissioning practices through professional development activities and training programs.
Requirements:
· At least 5 years of experience working for an industrial process design, electrical, or commissioning company.
· Able to troubleshoot and/or calibrate electrical devices such as motor starters, soft starters, VFD’s, PLC,s, level switches, belt scales, radar level sensors, zero-speed switches, etc.
· Associate’s degree or higher in Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, or Electrical Technology.
· Lead electrical contractors, automation technicians, and commissioning teams throughtasks.
· Able to travel, be on site for several weeks at a time (travel requirement 50-75%).
· General mechanical knowledge.
· Knowledge of National Electric Code (NFPA Articles 70, 70E, 79).
· Demonstrated experience with electrical design projects including coordination with other engineering disciplines.
· Demonstrated experience in low & medium voltage power distribution, equipment/protective device sizing, and power system studies.
· Demonstrated experience with single line diagrams, area classifications, power and control schematics, wiring design, lighting and grounding design, and electrical installation details.
· Understanding of engineering specifications with motors, transformers, MCC’s, VFD’s, and UPS systems.
· Experience with MS Office Suite products: (Xcel, Word, CAD, Etc.).
· Experience with Rockwell Automation and Siemens is a plus.
· Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple project tasks.
· Excellent presentation and written communication skills, time management, and organizational skills are required.
· Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines, be self-directed, exhibit good business judgment, and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
· Excellent verbal, written, technical, conceptual, and organizational skills.

Education/Experience:
High School diploma
Minimum of OSHA 30-hour certificate
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health or similar field is preferred.
Word processing, writing, and communications. Knowledge of software applications, such as desktop publishing, spreadsheets, database management (i.e., Microsoft Office).
Three (3) years of field experience working or working with an experienced manager.
Customer service and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of communications skills.
Discretion, good judgment, organizational & management ability.
Initiative, ability to work independently, adaptable, and versatile.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting or manipulating heavy objects.
Climb stairs, ladders, or walkways.
Frequently walk around the job site.
Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate object Tool.
Personal Protective Equipment Requirements:
Hard Hat – Hi-Visibility clothing, reflective during hours of reduced visibility, Safety Vest - Safety
Glasses - Steel Toed or composite toed work boots always worn on site.
Work Environment:
Work is conducted in a combination of office environment and job site and to all types of weather conditions also occurs. Field construction work is performed outside and or in industrial settings, so exposure to all types of weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, is common.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
