Job Brief:

Doherty Steel, Inc. is searching for Welders/Fitter/Fabricators who will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment.

Welder Responsibilities:

Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
Interprets blueprints to identify weld symbols.
Repairs components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
Ensures work is done safely and meets quality standards.
Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
Interprets blueprints to identify weld symbols.
Performs other job duties as assigned by management.
Must follow all safety rules and PPE requirements.

Fitter/Fabricator Responsibilities:

Interpret and read blueprints and engineering drawings to determine specifications and assembly requirements.
Fabricate components using various machining techniques and tools.
Perform welding tasks using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) and Stick welding methods.
Build assemblies by fitting parts together with precision, ensuring structural integrity.
Operate cranes and other lifting equipment safely to move heavy materials as needed.
Utilize measuring tools such as micrometers to ensure accurate dimensions of components.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety regulations at all times.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues during the fitting process.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Thorough understanding of welding equipment and hand tools used in welding.
Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
Must be able to see details at close range.
Familiarity with operating cranes and other lifting equipment safely.
Competent in using measuring instruments like micrometers for precise measurements.
Excellent communication, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Job Type:

Full-time (must have 2+ years of welding experience)
