Full Job Description

STRATEGIC FINANCIAL ANALYST | SUMMARY

This position serves as the analytical extension of the Vice President of Finance on the Finance team. The role owns recurring executive reporting, financial forecasting, lender reporting, executive dashboards, profitability analyses, and other decision-support tools while serving as the primary analytical resource for strategic projects across the organization. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, enjoys solving ambiguous business problems, and thrives in environments where analytical thinking matters more than following predefined processes. This is an onsite position based in our Kansas City, MO or Springfield, MO location.

STRATEGIC FINANCIAL ANALYST | ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Own recurring Finance reporting and analyses, including cash flow forecasting, financial forecasting, lender reporting, executive dashboards, profitability reporting, and other decision-support tools used by Executive Leadership.
Serve as a trusted financial partner to Executive Leadership and internal departments byprovidingfinancial insight, evaluating business opportunities, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Maintain and enhance existing financial models, executive workbooks, and reporting tools to ensure theyremainaccurate, reliable, and relevant.
Develop new financial models and analyses to support evolving business needs, strategic initiatives, and executive requests.
Continuously improve Finance processes through automation, standardization, and enhanced reporting methodologies.
Document andmaintainfinancial models, recurring analyses, and reporting processes to support business continuity and organizational knowledge.
Partner with Accounting, Contracts, Revenue Operations, Operations, and Executive Leadership to provide financial insight and support strategic business decisions.

STRATEGIC FINANCIAL ANALYST | COMPETENCIES:

Financial Modeling & Excel Expertise: Builds, audits, and improves financial models using advanced Excel techniques. Understands model structure,validatesassumptions, and ensures analyses areaccurate, scalable, and maintainable.
ReverseEngineering & Analytical Curiosity: Quickly understands unfamiliar financial analyses byidentifyingunderlying business logic, data sources, assumptions, and calculations. Demonstrates intellectual curiosityby asking questions, challenging assumptions, seekingto understand the business drivers behind the results.
Initiative & Ownership: Works independently with minimal direction, takes ownership of recurring reporting and analytical processes,followsthrough on commitments, and proactivelyidentifiesopportunities for improvement.
Collaboration & Business Partnership:Buildsinterdepartmental relationshipsby understanding stakeholder needs and providing responsive support.

Systems Thinking:Looks beyond individual analyses to understand how financial data flows through business processes, ERP systems, reporting tools, and operational workflows.Recognizesopportunities to improve the overall financial information ecosystem rather than simply completing individual tasks.

STRATEGIC FINANCIAL ANALYST | REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’sdegree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or related experience.
2-5 yearsof experience inFinancialPlanning & Analysis, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Consulting, or similar analytical role.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:

Financial modeling
Complex formulas
Dynamic array formulas
Pivot Tables
Power Query
Data validation
Scenario and sensitivity analysis
Model auditing and troubleshooting
Ability to understand and improve legacy workbooks.
Strong understanding of:

Financial statements
Forecasting methodologies
Financial analysis techniques
Demonstrated ability to reverse engineer complex Excel models developed by others, understand the underlying business logic, update assumptions,validateresults, and improve the analysis with minimal guidance.

STRATEGIC FINANCIAL ANALYST | PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience inEngineering, Consulting, Construction, Architecture, Environmental Services, orproject-basedbusinesses.
Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
Experience withERP systems, Vantagepoint preferred.
Knowledge of project accounting and project-based financial metrics.

STRATEGIC FINANCIAL ANALYST | POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position.
Typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm; some flexibility and overtime may be needed dependent on business needs.
This role operates in an office environment and regularly uses standard office equipment, this is not a remote position.

PAY RANGE

$70,000 - $90,000/yr – contingent on experience.
