Emmanuel Family and Child Development Center is a Missouri-licensed urban core center dedicated to serving at-risk children and their families. Our passionate educators are committed to ensuring that every child enters kindergarten prepared to succeed, fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic School Liaison Engagement Specialist to serve as a vital bridge between schools, families, and community resources. In this role, you will champion student well-being by coordinating support services, facilitating communication, and promoting positive behavioral health outcomes. Your energetic approach will empower students from diverse backgrounds and ensure they receive the comprehensive care they deserve.

Duties

The School Liaison Engagement Specialist serves as the primary connection between the school, students, families, and the community by developing strong partnerships that promote student success, family engagement, and overall student well-being. This position is responsible for recruiting, enrolling, engagement and retaining students in accordance with 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) policies and procedures while ensuring families are connected to resources and support services that strengthen self- sufficiency and positive outcomes.

The School Liaison Specialist works collaboratively with school staff, community partners, and families to identify student and family needs, coordinate appropriate referrals, and provide ongoing support that encourages academic achievement, regular attendance, and active participation in program activities. In addition, the School Liaison Specialist will plan and coordinate monthly fun and educational activities that actively engage staff, youth, and families while building positive, supportive relationships and strengthening the school community.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate enrollment and participation records, supporting student recruitment and retention efforts, coordinating family communication, organizing engagement events, collaborating with community agencies, and ensuring compliance with all 21st CCLC program requirements.

The ideal candidate must have experience working in youth development, or after-school program and possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. The ability to build trusting relationships with diverse families, work collaboratively with school personnel and community partners, and demonstrate cultural responsiveness is essential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities A desire to empower youth and families to reach their highest potential and build positive relationships with them.

● Recruit students and families into the program from partnering school

● Support youth by building professionals, supportive relationships and providing access to resources

● Obtaining syllabi, course curriculum guides, workbooks, textbooks, and verbal feedback from staff at school day program.

● Maintaining contact with former students who are not regularly attending the program.

● Assisting staff with behavioral interventions, and community resources.

● Building & maintaining positive relationships with school personnel.

● Building & maintaining positive relationships with students and parents.

● Attending school events and field trips as the schedule allows.

● Retrieving out of school suspension lists, and behavior reports,

● Obtaining mid-term and quarterly grade reports.

● Obtaining MAP scores.

● Connect with students who have been suspension to support the student and family, and assist with a smooth transition back into their day school

● Maintaining 21st Century grant paperwork.

● Obtaining & maintaining student and family interest forms and creating activities and training around interest.

● Implement and engage students and families in trauma smart knowledge and activities to support mental wellness

● Plan and implement bi-monthly parent engagement nights and or events

● Contacting parents of students who are new to the program.

● Maintaining contact with parents of regularly attending students.

● Ensuring required paperwork for students' files is turned in and filed.

● Preparing student sign-in forms and filling them.

● Facilitating evaluation processes, i.e. MAP, student surveys, student interest forms.

● Reporting data retrieved from various surveys.

● Assisting with writing and formulating the center's goals and entering the goals into the computer.

● Covering the classroom when staff is not available.

● Inviting parents to events at the center.

● Bus monitor 1-2 days weekly to introduce yourself to families and make connections with families

● Informing bus drivers of new students and changes to the route.

● Follow-up with write-ups to inform parents of suspensions from the center or other behavioral and/or academic concerns.

● Maintain communication with Administrative staff to make aware of challenges with youth, needed interventions, concerns regarding overall programming.

● Attend regular training for Youth Quality Programming and Science Education at least twice per month.

● Attend extended training 3-days to assist with obtaining information and resources for the students.

● Assist with coordinating center events: Lights On, Holiday programming, etc.

● Ensuring that students have ownership in the programming, youth guests attend training with the Program Director at least once a month.

● Receiving evening calls or making calls on the weekend to listen to parents' concerns, recruit students, or just to simply listen to them

● Connect families through family engagement events,

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to work and communicate with people from various multi-cultural backgrounds and socio-economic levels. Sensitivity to the needs, abilities, beliefs, and attitudes of individuals within and outside the Agency, including but not limited to customers and co-workers. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain access to a licensed/insured vehicle. Fluent in Spanish and English, written and verbal preferred.

Physical Requirements:

● May require excessive sitting, walking, bending, stretching and sitting

● Exposure to childhood illnesses and diseases

● Ability to lift and carry 45 lbs on a regular basis

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in social work, Health Sciences, Child

Development, Family Studies, or a related field is required. Experience working in a

licensed early childhood center.
