Position Summary
We are seeking a strong Automation Engineer with solid experience designing control systems for the water and wastewater industry. The ideal candidate will have five or more years in PLC programming and HMI/SCADA software development experience. This is a great opportunity for an instrumentation and controls programmer interested in expanding their career and testing their ability to execute on large projects.
Position Responsibilities
- Experience installing and maintaining SCADA system, PLCs, and network/communication systems.
- Experience designing, programming, and troubleshooting the followings PLCs:
- Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000, RSLogix)
- Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal and Simatic Manager)
- Experience in GUI/HMI software development. (VTSCADA, Wonderware, Intellution, RSView32, FactoryTalk)
- Experience panel design and preparation of shop drawings
- Strong working knowledge of relay logic and wiring diagrams.
- Self-motivated individual – able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team oriented, flexible and willing to assist in other technical disciplines.
- Understanding of level, flow, pressure and analytical instruments.
- Strong technical and functional skills and the ability to organize and track multiple simultaneous tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills for communication with a diversified user community and outside vendors
- · Solid understanding of industrial networks, Windows operating systems, relational databases, programming techniques, PLCs and MS Office suite.
- Some travel WILL be required based on project assignments.
Desired Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience of related engineering experience desired
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, computer, etc.) from an accredited college or university
- Possess a positive and proactive approach to addressing challenges and working with team members
- Build strong professional cross-functional relationships
- Be energetic, ethical, honest, trustworthy, and dependable
- Strong experience with Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal and Simatic Manager) is required
- Experience with iFIX SCADA systems is highly preferred
- Experience with Wonderware System Platform / InTouch is preferred
- Experience supporting or migrating legacy control systems (e.g., 505 PLCs) is a strong plus
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is a plus
- Experience working with municipal SCADA systems for water/wastewater plants
- Experience integrating PLCs with SCADA systems, historians, and communication networks
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities
- Ability to troubleshoot systems during startup and field execution
