This role requires a leader with a strong office presence who can help identify opportunities for improvement, communicate clearly, and move new initiatives from strategy to implementation. The right candidate will be self-directed, organized, and motivated to be part of a healthy, high-functioning team.

Position Summary
The Accounting Manager at ACE Services is primarily responsible for managing the financial function of the company. This is a working manager who provides direction to one direct report while supporting other departments through accurate reporting, process discipline, and a commitment to ACE’s values.

This position requires initiative to improve accounting systems, strengthen internal processes, and create better structure where needed. The Accounting Manager will be expected to learn about the business, understand job-cost reporting, support operational decision-making, and help accounting function seamlessly across the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting functions, including A/R, A/P, Payroll, reporting, and general accounting)
Manage financial data and provide accurate accounting and job-cost reporting to support company decision-making.
Prepare internal and external financial reports and coordinate with the CPA for quarterly and annual review.
Manage the budgeting process for direct and indirect expenses.
Assess accounting operations and recommend improvements to systems, processes, and controls.
Implement new processes that improve accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and accountability.
Evaluate, maintain, and improve accounting and internal control systems
Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance
Hire, train, develop, and retain accounting staff.
Review and assist with procurement of business insurance, health insurance, and administration of the company’s 401(k) plan.
Manage enrollment and compliance verification for project-specific insurance and payroll requirements.
Support leadership with financial insight, business performance metrics, and reporting clarity.

Requirements

Experience with full-cycle accounts payable, billing, collections, payroll administration, and financial reporting.
Ability to develop, monitor, and communicate business performance metrics.
Strong understanding of accounting systems, processes, internal controls, and reporting structure.
Experience with Foundation accounting software preferred.
Willingness to take ownership of new systems, learn new areas, and improve existing processes.
Service-oriented approach with team members, vendors, customers, and outside stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving business performance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
English required; Spanish preferred.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and communication channels simultaneously.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
6+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
Prior supervisory or management experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven leadership through integrity, self-motivation, accountability, and independence.
Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office.
Preference will be given to CPA candidates
