Job Title: Dental Insurance Verification Specialist

Location: Fine Dental Care – Houston, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Pay: $13–$18 per hour (based on experience)

Position Summary

Fine Dental Care is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Dental Insurance Verification Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of dental insurance benefits, PPO plans, eligibility verification, and treatment estimate preparation. This role is essential to ensuring accurate patient financial information and an outstanding patient experience.

Responsibilities

Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits before patient appointments.
Review coverage for preventive, restorative, endodontic, periodontic, oral surgery, and prosthodontic procedures.
Confirm deductibles, annual maximums, frequencies, waiting periods, limitations, and exclusions.
Prepare accurate treatment estimates based on insurance benefits.
Verify pre-authorizations and predeterminations when required.
Contact insurance companies via phone and online insurance portals.
Update patient insurance information accurately in the practice management system.
Communicate insurance benefits and estimated patient responsibilities to patients and the clinical team.
Work closely with the front office, treatment coordinator, and billing department to resolve insurance discrepancies.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of dental insurance verification experience.
Knowledge of PPO, HMO, Medicare Advantage dental plans, and Medicaid is preferred.
Experience with Dentrix Ascend or similar dental practice management software.
Strong understanding of CDT codes and dental terminology.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dental office.

Preferred Skills

Experience using insurance portals such as Availity, Zelis, and payer websites.
Knowledge of pre-authorizations and dental claim processing.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
