Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, thoughtful and caring medical billing specialist to join our team. Applicants must be self‐motivated, love working with a team, and passionate about providing exceptional service to each patient. Experience with Raintree is highly preferred.

Our pediatric therapy clinic offers Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Applied Behavior Analysis. This is a full time opportunity with a therapist owned private practice. The atmosphere is collaborative and caring and we want staff that truly care about our families and our team! We pride ourselves on promoting a fun and welcoming work culture and providing a healthy work-life balance. Excellent customer service is our highest priority.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for treatments, services, and procedures.
Act as a client liaison to deliver quality customer service and answer account and benefits questions.
Submittal for treatment authorizations.
Assure all insurance requirements have been accurately obtained for each patient before proceeding to scheduling.
Timely submittal of insurance claims through EMR system.
Timely research and submit appeals and reconsiderations on claim denials and underpayments.
Timely posting of ERAs.
Reconciliation of client accounts.
Communicate identified payer trends such as denials for specific procedure or diagnosis codes, or other issues to direct manager.
Collection of client payment charges.
Post payments in patient accounts.
Problem solving by identifying and resolving patient payment discrepancies with front office staff.
Cross-train on other billing duties for back-up when needed.
Other duties as assigned by direct manager.

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

5+ years experience in medical insurance/healthcare billing which includes insurance benefit verification, prior authorization, claim appeal process, and payment collections.
Knowledgeable with the Raintree EMR System.
Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, HCFA 1500 claim form.
Knowledge of various insurance plan types and guidelines.
Healthcare experience - pediatric therapy (ABA, ST, OT or PT) environment preferred.
Knowledge to read, understand, and interpret insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to determine patient estimated out of pocket expenses.
Working experience and knowledge of the claim appeal process.
Working knowledge of basic accounting procedures
Ability to multitask, set priorities and follow through without direct supervision.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels.
High attention to detail.
Strong time management, organization, multi-task, and analytical skills.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software.
Knowledge of Google Drive.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent
Certified Coding & Billing - preferred but not required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
