Overview

Join our dynamic educational community as a School Nurse, where you will play a vital role in promoting student health, safety, and well-being. This energetic position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive health services within a vibrant school environment, ensuring students receive timely and compassionate care. As a School Nurse, you will be the frontline healthcare professional dedicated to maintaining a healthy school climate and supporting students’ physical and emotional needs.

Duties

Assess and manage student health concerns, including injuries, illnesses, and chronic conditions, ensuring prompt and appropriate care.
Administer medications, injections, and first aid treatments following established protocols and state regulations.
Conduct health screenings such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks to identify potential issues early.
Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and health education initiatives.
Implement health policies in accordance with state Board of Nursing regulations and school policies to promote a safe learning environment.
Respond swiftly to medical emergencies using CPR, AED operation, and emergency response procedures to stabilize students until further help arrives.

Skills

Proven experience in school clinic settings or pediatric nursing with strong knowledge of pediatrics and physiology.
Hands-on expertise in emergency medicine, urgent care, or hospital medicine including Level I Trauma Center experience preferred.
Skilled in IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and medical documentation within EMR/EHR systems.
Familiarity with health regulations compliance such as HIPAA, nursing policy adherence, and patient confidentiality standards.
Ability to perform patient assessment accurately by evaluating vital signs and understanding anatomy and medical terminology.
Strong communication skills for parent interactions, interprofessional collaboration, and delivering health education effectively.
Competence in acute care procedures including first aid, CPR certification, AED operation, and basic life support (BLS).
