Full Job Description

Bookkeeper/Paralegal

Five lawyer law firm is looking for a Bookkeeper/Paralegal to work in our Smithville, Missouri office. Duties include general bookkeeping, billing, entering billable time, collection of accounts receivable, payroll, working with our outside accountant on taxes, budgeting, preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, managing human resource and benefits, and paralegal duties related to personal injury litigation including obtaining, reviewing, and organizing records/files, preparing medical chronologies, preparing exhibits and documents, maintaining calendars, efiling, tracking billable hours, attending and assisting attorneys at trial, and otherwise providing support for attorneys. Preferred candidate would have basic legal knowledge, law firm experience, and/or bookkeeping experience and a willingness to learn. Candidate must be proficient with basic office software, including email management and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Quicken and TABS preferred but not required. A college degree is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate is dependable, analytical, detail-oriented, a self-starter with a strong work ethic, and committed to accuracy while working collaboratively with internal attorneys/staff and external contacts. We offer competitive compensation and benefits including medical and 401(k). This is an in-office role.
